༄
The phone ringing forces Steve out of bed. Floors cool on his feet, the air a chill on his bare chest, he rubs his eyes lazily and picks it up.
“Hello?” He clears his throat to get rid of the sleep in his voice.
“Steve, why do you sound tired, it’s nearly noon!”
It’s no surprise that the first words aren’t asking him how he is. He’s shocked she cared enough to pick up on the tone of his voice at all. “Hi, mom.”
He doesn’t even know where she’s calling from, doesn’t know what business trip they're on. He can’t remember the last time he got a phone call that wasn’t you, or Robin, or Dustin, or anyone else other than his parents.
Steve’s not even excited to be hearing from them, because it’s a reminder that they’re not around, that they haven’t forgotten about him, they just don’t care.
He wishes you were the one that called.
“Listen, sweetie, your dad and I are coming home for Christmas this year, isn’t that great?”
He deflates, “yeah. Super.”
“There’s a business event he wants to take you to. And we’ll find you a date,” there’s the catch. There’s always a catch. “You can make some connections, maybe get out of your job at that video store soon.”
The thing is, he actually likes working at Family Video, but he knows that doesn’t matter. Then there’s the topic of the girlfriend, or lack thereof. His parents are always nagging him about when he’ll settle down, grow roots, or something.
Maybe that’s why he says, “I can get my own date. I have a girlfriend.”
“Oh! That’s fantastic! She’ll have dinner with us, won’t she? What’s her name?”
Like an idiot, he says your name. The first one that came to his mind.
You’re his best friend, and it’s easy to let his thoughts drift to you. The problem is, he has no idea how he’s going to explain this to you, how he can ask you to fake date him just to satisfy his parents for once.
If he wasn’t still on the phone, Steve would be groaning into a pillow right now.
“Okay, sweetie, your dad has a brunch we have to get to. We’ll see you soon!”
“Bye, mom. See you.”
He hangs up and sighs in relief. That feeling is quick to fade when he remembers that he had just named you his girlfriend in the midst of his phone call. He drops his face into his hands, runs them through his hair, and tries to figure out how the hell to bring up the subject with you.
To go along with that, he has to worry about his parents coming home. Though, can they really call it ‘home’ when they’ve been gone for so long? When they’ll leave again after a few days, a week at most?
Most people would be happy, excited, about their parents being around for the holidays. Steve’s not. He’d rather spend it how he has since the two of you became friends. Breakfast at your house with your family—who have become family for Steve, too—presents opened with scented candles burning and Christmas albums spun on the record player.
You went out of your way to include him, and he’s never felt so welcome in his life as he does when he’s with you.
At least, if you agree, you’ll be with him this year, too.
-
It’s the next day when Steve decides to bring it up. You’re at his house for movie night, which has become a weekly ritual for the two of you. He’s been trying to figure out what exactly to say since he hung up the damn phone. He’s given up and instead hopes it’ll come to him in the moment.
Today, Steve’s quiet, which is unlike him. You know something’s on his mind and you try to avoid asking him about it, trying to let him talk about it on his own time. It’s about halfway through the movie that you change your mind.
He didn’t complain when you showed up with your cheesy Christmas movie choice, he didn’t light-heartedly tease you about your outfit of choice (some festive patterned pajama pants and a sweater that’s so worn there are holes in the neckline), and the most unusual, he didn’t make a single joke or comment as the movie played.
He’s really, really quiet.
You pick up the remote and pause it, “what’s going on with you, Steve?”
He looks at you, catches your eye and sees nothing but genuine concern. Sometimes he hates the way you know him so well. He can never hide anything from you.
“What? Nothing.”
You blink at him, “come on.”
“Fine, okay. Just, don’t say anything until I’m done, please.”
“Okay,” you pretend to zip your mouth shut, ready to listen.
“My mom called yesterday and told me they’re coming home for Christmas, and that there’s this business thing they want me to go to, and that I need a date for it,” he scrubs a hand down his face, trying to hide his embarrassment. “And you know how they’re always on my ass about me being single and stuff so I kind of told her I already had a girlfriend, and maybe I told her that girlfriend is you.”
What?
There’s a lot to process there. Mostly the fact that out of all of the names he could have chosen, he said yours. You wait for him to explain some more, but he’s looking at you like he’s waiting for a reply, so, your mouth is now unzipped.
“So, what exactly does that mean?”
He mutters a curse under his breath. “Um, so, I need you to pretend to be my actual girlfriend while they’re here.”
His use of the word ‘need’ is telling. Steve’s not one to ask for help, not even when he needs it the most but here he is, nervous and a little pink-cheeked, asking for your help.
You let the thought sit in your head for a bit. It’s not hard for you to want to agree. Steve’s your best friend, and you’d do pretty much anything for him. Though, that might also have to do with the fact that you’ve been in love with him for years.
You know more about his relationship with his parents then most do, so if you can make their visit more bearable for him in any way, why wouldn’t you?
“Okay,” you say.
“Okay? Like, you’ll do it?”
“Yeah, sure. I’m happy to help.”
That was a lot easier than Steve thought it’d be. You barely even questioned him before agreeing, and that’s not lost on him.
“Thank you so much, seriously,” he throws his arm over your shoulders, squeezes you to him in a side hug. “It’s only a few days, then we can go back to normal.”
“Easy peasy,” you say, reaching for the remote and hitting play.
Aside from your wanting to help him, to be there for him like you know he would for you, you’re also curious to see what it’s like to be with Steve that way, even if it’s fake. It’s hopeless, the way you love him, like the moon orbiting the earth around and around. Constant.
Sure, those feelings will probably only swell because of the fake relationship, but you’ve been housing them for long enough anyway.
What could go wrong?
-
“Are you sure this is a good idea?” Robin says from the other side of a clothing rack, sifting through the pieces.
She’s the first, and only, person you told about the fake dating thing. Naturally, she decided she’d help you shop for a dress to wear to this business thing and talk about it at the same time.
The mall is decorated, garlands and lights strung, a big Christmas tree lit up in the middle of it all.
“It’s only a couple of days. It’ll be fine.”
“I’m talking about you being in love with him,” she deadpans.
“Robin, not so loud.”
“I just don’t want you to get hurt.”
You know she’s being honest, and though the thought has been at the back of your mind, a whisper, you’d like to believe that you can handle a fake relationship without ruining things because of your big, big feelings.
“I spend time with him alone a bunch. It’s not that much different, okay?”
“Besides the fact that you’ll be calling him boyfriend and acting like it, too, you mean.”
Actually, you’ve been trying not to think about what exactly pretending to be his girlfriend entails. You don’t know if he’ll hold your hand, if he’ll hold you closer than he has before, if he’ll kiss you. You think it might be better to wait and see, to not let the possibilities eat at you.
“I know it sounds bad, but it’s Steve. Nothing major will happen. We’re friends and I’m helping him out.”
Robin’s in a tricky spot. She knows how you feel about Steve, obviously, and though he doesn’t see it yet himself, she knows that Steve feels the same, too. It’s taken a lot to hold herself back from speeding things along, and as much as she wishes this fake relationship plan might be a good push, things usually aren’t so easy.
She can also tell that there’s a lot you’re thinking but not saying, but instead of pushing it, she returns to looking at the dresses. It’s not long before she gasps, pulling one of the rack to show you.
“This one,” she says.
“I don’t know. That won’t look good on me.”
It’s pretty, though. You’ll give her that.
“Shut up, everything looks good on you. Will you at least try it on?” She wiggles the hanger in her hand, “for me?”
“Fine.”
You take it from her, walking back towards the fitting rooms with a grinning Robin in tow. She waits outside the door while you change into the dress.
Once it’s on, looking in the mirror, you don’t even know what to think. You’re not one to feel all that confident in what you wear, or in how you look, but this dress makes you feel pretty. Maybe you should make Robin pick out all of your clothes.
“Let me see!” Robin calls.
You step out of the changeroom, doing a shy little spin when she asks. She’s smiling proudly, like she knows she chose well (which she did). She can’t help but think of how Steve will react, because she knows he feels something for you, she can see it on his face everytime he talks about you. He’s just a dork and he doesn’t realize it. Not yet, at least.
“What do you think?” You ask.
“If Steve’s not already in love with you…”
“Don’t finish that sentence.”
If she does, your brain will conjure up way too many ideas of what could possibly happen. If Steve could really feel the same. If maybe he’ll feel those same butterflies in his stomach that you do, if his heart feels bigger when you’re around. In your dreams, he does.
“I’m trying to tell you you look hot!”
-
December twenty-third is the day that Steve’s parents come home as well as the night of the business event. You and Steve have tried to figure out how to act like a couple, quizzing each other on things you already know, setting loose boundaries, but you figure after knowing each other for so long, being so close, it won’t feel much different than now. Besides the extra touching, the possibility of kissing.
You’re already at his house when his parents get home, your makeup and outfit for tonight sitting in Steve’s room. The two of you linger near the front door waiting for their arrival, a nervous and jittery welcoming committee.
The sound of a car pulling into the driveway grabs your attention. It’s a clapperboard snapping shut, marking the scene. Action.
“You ready, babe?” He holds out his arm for you to grab, and you do.
“Time to be the best couple ever,” you reply.
Steve grins at you. He has no idea how to thank you for agreeing to do this, how to even explain to you the relief you’re sure to bring. It’s one less thing for his parents to pick and pry at.
The door opens, and you can already feel a change in Steve’s demeanor. He’s standing straighter, stiffer. You squeeze his arm, a reminder that you’re there.
“Steve, sweetie!” His mother barely greets him before moving onto you, “and this is your girlfriend?”
“Hi, Mrs. Harrington.”
If it were someone else’s mother, you’d be hit with the usual ‘oh please, call me (insert name here).’ However, where the Harringtons are concerned, formality is a must. Besides Steve, of course. From what you know, the apple had fallen very, very far from the tree and you mean that as a compliment.
Even after being friends for so many years, this is the first time you’re actually meeting Steve’s parents. It’s clear that he’s never jumped at the opportunity to have his friends around when they’re home. He’s told you about them, and that’s enough for you.
“Steve! Come help me with the bags, would you?” His dad calls from outside, though he says it as a demand rather than a question.
“Yep, coming,” he replies. He kisses the side of your head before going outside, quick and sure, like he’s done it hundreds of times.
“How was your trip, Mrs. Harrington?” You fill the silence.
“Oh, just lovely, thank you,” she moves to the kitchen, expecting you to follow. “The house looks clean. Do you have something to do with that?”
Despite her trying to sound like she’s joking, you know that she truly doesn’t believe that Steve could be the one keeping the place going. As if he hasn’t been doing just that for ages.
“No, no. It’s really Steve.”
Her eyebrows raise, surprised.
Steve and his father walk in before anything else is said—thank God. You shake hands with Mr. Harrington, saying hello and wearing a tight smile. Steve’s quick to come to your side, an arm over your shoulders like a shield. Your hand moves to hold the one resting on your shoulder.
He’s even more tense when his father’s in the room, you’ve noticed. You hold his hand a bit tighter. You wish you could do something to make him feel better, and you hope that this fake relationship will do that at least a little bit.
Meanwhile Steve’s wondering how your presence could make him feel much better than he usually does with his parents around. You’re a comfort beside him, and when he gets the chance, he kisses your head again, whispering a ‘thank you’ into your hair.
-
The first few hours with Steve’s parents go by dreadfully slow, even with his touch on you most of the time. You’re quickly learning that as a boyfriend—even fake—Steve’s love language is easily physical touch. He has an arm around you, a hand in yours, on your leg, anything.
You’re also learning just how strained his relationship with his parents is. He’d trusted you enough to tell you most of it, but seeing them interact in front of you was different. The backhanded comments, the faces whenever he mentions his job, it makes your heart ache for him.
It’s bad enough that his parents are hardly ever around, but having them act like this when they are? You’re amazed at how good Steve has remained through it all.
When it’s time to get ready for the business party, you’re thankful for the reprieve.
“Think we’re doing a good job?” You ask Steve as he shuts the door to his room.
“They seem to be buying it. Thanks again for doing this.”
“You’ve thanked me like a hundred times, Steve. It’s okay, really.”
You want to tell him that you’re sorry these are the people he has to call family. That he shouldn’t listen to any of the shit they give him about his job or his lack of post-secondary education. That he’s the best boy you’ve ever known.
The problem is, you don’t know how to say all of that without making your feelings for him painfully obvious.
“Just gotta keep it up ‘til Christmas. That’s when they leave.”
“They’re only here for two days?” You knew the trip was going to be short, but forty-eight hours?
“Yeah, something about getting a deal on a cruise. I don’t know.”
He says it so casually, like it’s normal. You guess that for him, it is, but it doesn’t make it any less upsetting.
“Does that mean you’ll come to mine for Christmas day? Like usual?” You ask, hopefully lightening the mood.
“If you’ll have me.”
“Shut up, you’re always welcome. Think my mom likes you more than me anyway,” you nudge his shoulder with yours, then move to bring your stuff into his bathroom to start getting ready.
He leans on the doorframe, watching you set your makeup out on the counter, “she does not.”
“Steve, you have your own stocking hanging on our fireplace. And it’s bigger than mine.”
He smiles genuinely then, the first one since his parents have arrived.
He leaves you to get ready, shutting the bathroom door for when you change. You can still hear him through the door. The opening and closing of his drawers, a curse when he stubs his toe.
So far, pretending to be with Steve has been easy. You’ve acted the same save for the touches or small pecks he’s decided to keep placing on your head or your cheeks. The story you settled on was simple: you met him picking up a movie at Family Video, he asked if you needed company to watch it, the rest is history, blah blah blah.
Steve knocks on the bathroom door when you’re pretty much ready, you glance at yourself one more time in the mirror before opening it.
He stands with his tie in hand, wearing a button up and dress pants. You assume there’s a suit jacket to go along with it, and you think it might kill you. He’s so pretty, and he looks it all of the time but seeing him dressed up is really something.
“You look good, Steve,” you say. Good doesn’t even begin to cover it.
“Thanks. You look- you too.”
Steve’s stunned. He realizes he’s never seen you in anything formal and it’s making him feel all fluttery in his stomach and he doesn’t know what to think of it. He’s always known you’re gorgeous, in an obvious way like how the sky is blue. Now, though, it’s like he can feel it.
He clears his throat quietly and remembers the reason he knocked in the first place, “you don’t happen to know how to tie a tie, do you?”
You’re thankful for the time you decided to learn how when you were bored one day. You take the fabric from his hands, “it’s your lucky day, Steve.”
“Thank you. Didn’t wanna have to go ask my dad.”
He’s almost shy about wanting your help over something so small, his cheeks a little pink, his head bent. You give him a reassuring smile—or what you hope is one—and place the tie around his neck.
His eyes are on you as your hands fiddle with the fabric, doing it up for him. Your eyebrows are slightly scrunched, and he wants to reach out and smooth it out with his thumb. He’s not used to having that urge.
You finish up successfully after having fumbled a little bit, adjusting the tie so it isn’t crooked.
“There you go,” you pat his chest and he hopes you can’t feel his heartbeat, the way it’s quicker than normal.
He has no idea what that’s about.
“Thanks.”
“‘Course.”
He’s still standing close to you, enough that he has to keep his head tilted downwards just a little to be able to look at your face. Your eyes lock onto his, and time seems to slow. You’re so gone for him and you know it, but it almost seems like maybe he’s feeling something too. Just for a moment.
His father calling out that it’s time to go snaps you out of it.
Steve grabs his jacket, shrugging it on then offering you his hand to hold, “let’s do this, girlfriend.”
-
The hall is oozing Christmas when you walk in, Steve’s hand in yours. Ornaments hang down from the ceiling, warm white string lights line the top of the walls, Christmas music hums through the speakers, and an extravagant Christmas tree sits in the middle of the room.
You’ve never been to an event like it, and you have a hard time keeping your nerves at bay.
Pretending in front of Steve’s parents alone was one thing. Now, the stakes are higher. You have to be convincing and though it’s not difficult for you to pretend to be in love with Steve (you don’t have to fake that at all), you worry that you’ll slip up somehow and give yourself away. Both in the sense that the relationship is fake, and that your feelings are anything but.
It’s not long before Steve’s father gets pulled into a conversation, and his mother goes along with him. You’re left standing near the doorway with Steve, biting at the inside of your cheek.
“Relax,” he leans his head close to yours and whispers.
“Sorry. I’m just nervous.”
“We’re fine. You’re fine,” he squeezes your hand, something that’s quickly become a wordless reassurance between you. “We’ve done good so far, right?”
“I guess so.”
“Okay, so there’s nothing to worry about.”
Except for the fact that I love you and that you being a really good fake boyfriend isn’t helping.
“Okay.”
He smiles and leads you further into the room. The smile he gives you is different from the one he gives the people that say hi to him, the people that stop him for a chat. For you, it’s honest. For them, it doesn’t reach his eyes, it doesn’t mean anything.
“About time you tied someone down, Steve,” a man says to him. A coworker of his father’s, just like most men in the room.
“Think she’s the one who got me, but yeah.”
“That’s sweet. Next step is to get you a stable job, huh?”
It seems like all anyone here is concerned about is what people do, who they know. It’s no fun for you and they aren’t even speaking to you directly most of the time.
“Sure. Good to see you,” Steve excuses the both of you from the conversation.
“These people suck,” you say to him, leading him to the bar set up in a corner.
“Tell me about it.”
You order water for the both of you, something to get rid of the dryness in your throat and occupy you for a bit. You drink quietly before Steve speaks up.
“You look beautiful, by the way.”
He doesn’t know why it slips out now, but it does. The thought has been on his mind since he saw you standing there in his bathroom, and it’s getting harder and harder to ignore.
“You don’t have to say that, Steve. Nobody’s listening.”
“I mean it, seriously.”
“Oh,” you look down at your glass, at the condensation running down the side. The corners of your mouth lift, “thank you.”
“I know this isn’t the most fun, but I’m glad you’re here with me,” he admits. He’s always been sweet to you, but this feels different. You don’t know how or why, but it does.
“I am too.”
Steve’s dad interrupts your moment, pulling Steve off to meet some people. Already, there’s a guard being put up by him, a shield he saves for his father.
For those few minutes, where it was just you and Steve, you realized that he’s probably the best date you’ve ever had. He pays attention to you, he’s comforting without even trying, and he compliments you with so much honesty you could melt.
He’s the best date you’ve ever had and it’s fake. It’s becoming a mantra repeated in your head; it’s not real, it’s not real.
Lost in thought, you don’t notice the boy who’s sat next to you now.
“I’ve never seen you before,” he says.
“I’m not usually at these things. I came with my boyfriend,” you tell him, unsettled by his stare.
“And where is this boyfriend now?”
“He’s out there. I just needed some water but he’ll come back soon.”
You’re trying to get him to go away, to take the hint. He won’t.
“Why don’t I keep you company in the meantime?”
You’re about to reply when someone else does it for you, “not necessary. She’s my girl.”
My girl. Steve. He stands behind you, wraps his arms around your waist. It’s like he knew you needed him then, showing up as soon as you felt like you wanted to search for him. He runs his hands over your sides, a possessive touch that has your skin tingling.
“My bad, man. Thought she was lying about the boyfriend,” the guy says.
“She wasn’t. Even if she was, maybe you should learn to tell when someone isn’t interested, yeah?”
The stranger nods and walks off.
You spin in Steve’s hold, facing him. “My hero.”
“You know me,” he shrugs.
What he doesn’t say is that seeing another guy talk to you made his gut churn, bringing something that he didn’t want to admit was jealousy. He also saw the look on your face, the discomfort, and felt his feet carry him over before his mind could think it first.
His hands are still on your waist, even with the stranger gone.
-
It’s not until Steve’s parents are ready that you leave. They’ve taken advantage of the champagne that sat on trays, free for the taking, as well as the opportunity to talk up their son to many, many people. It seems they’re only proud of him when there’s other people around, and even then, the praise doesn’t hold much weight.
He’s trying his best. At least he’s working. He’s got a girlfriend now. No, he doesn’t host backyard parties while we’re gone anymore.
You wish you could speak up, but you know, with this many people around, it’d cause more harm than good. It’s hard to listen to the people that raised Steve talk about him the way they do. You want so badly to shout in their faces how brilliant he is, no thanks to them. How he has the kindest soul and a sort of midas touch that makes everything shine.
At least, you think he does. You promise yourself to love him better than they ever did, even if it’s in secret.
One memory from the night overpowers the rest, luckily. ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’ played, a slower rendition, and a slow dance ensued. You watched couples split off, and when you looked at Steve, he was already looking at you, a question on his face and a hand outstretched.
You fell into step with him quickly. It wasn’t awkward for a second. One of your hands in his, the other on his shoulder, his on your waist. You swayed together, unknowingly moving closer until you were close enough to rest your head on his chest. And you did.
He rested his head atop of yours and hummed the song softly. You’ll dream about that dance, probably.
Now, you sit in the car with Steve, who’s become the driver. He drops his parents off at his house first, leaving the two of you alone for the drive to yours. He sneaks glances at you at stop signs and red lights, turning back to the road when he thinks he’s been caught.
His mind is full because he’s looking at you in a way he hasn’t before. He sees parts of you that he was blind to before. The shape of your lips, for example. The dip of your spine and the way it feels to hold you. It’s dizzying and warm, confusing and sparkling all at once.
Once he’s pulled up to your house, he offers to walk you to the door. Ever the gentleman. A romantic no matter how much he denies it, you think. He gets misty-eyed when you watch rom-coms, opens doors for you, has bought flowers for nearly all of his dates, as far as you know.
What must it be like to receive flowers from Steve Harrington?
He faces you on your front porch, hands in his pockets, “thank you again for doing this.”
“How many times do I have to tell you it’s okay. I’m happy to help you, Steve. You’re my best friend.” Who I love more than anyone.
“You’re mine, too, honey.”
It’s not the first time he’s called you that. Turns out, it was his default to use in your fake relationship. It is, however, the first time he’s said it when it’s just the two of you. It sounds sweet coming from his lips, sticky. Just like honey itself.
“What time should I be over for dinner tomorrow?” You ask. It’s the last hurdle of the fake dating.
“How ‘bout I come pick you up after I finish work?”
“Yeah, okay, that’d be great, thanks.”
You wrap your arms around yourself, the cold of December biting your skin.
“Here,” Steve notices, of course he does, and he reaches out with his hands, rubbing them up and down your arms to warm you.
“How’re your hands still warm?” You ask.
“I'm magic.”
You smile at that. He has no idea.
He reaches up with one hand to cup your cool cheek, and you nudge your face into his touch. For the warmth, you tell yourself. That’s it. His thumb runs over your skin, once, twice.
“Did I ever tell you that you have a pretty smile?” He says it so quietly you almost miss it. You don’t, though, and there’s a swarm of butterflies in your gut because of it.
“Shut up,” you try to mask your bashfulness.
Then, just like that, his face is close to yours. So close that it looks like he might kiss you. His eyes flick from your mouth up to yours, like he’s unsure of what’s happening while he’s doing it.
You can feel his breath tickling your lips, the ghost of his mouth on yours. Before that can happen, he’s swerving away quickly, planting a kiss on your cheek instead. The one he isn’t holding. His mouth lingers for a second.
“Goodnight,” he whispers against your skin.
“Night,” you say, dazed. And he’s walking away.
Steve’s not at all sure what’s come over him. He wanted to kiss you just then, to tangle his fingers in your hair and kiss you stupid. What the fuck was happening to him?
When you let your eyes flutter shut, your mouth parted slightly, like you’d let him kiss you, like you wanted it, too, he panicked. Couldn't do it.
No, he doesn’t know what just happened, why it did, or why he’s resisting the urge to go back and knock on your door and actually kiss you when you open it. What he does know is that his heart seems to be doing something funny when you’re around, and that your fake relationship has been better than any of his real ones.
He knows he needs to talk to Robin about this.
-
Steve had to work the next morning—Christmas Eve—which he was actually thankful for. Thankful to get away from his parents, though the comments about his job followed him out the door this morning. Especially thankful because he needs to talk to Robin and sort out the mess of his feelings that has occurred in the last twenty four hours.
He couldn’t stop thinking about how much he wanted to kiss you. About how his stomach was all twisty when you slow danced with him. There are so many moments playing over in his memory. Not just from yesterday, either.
He remembers the way his stomach would sink when you’d tell him about a date you had or how he’d often reach out a hand to tuck your hair behind your ear, or to wipe something away from the corner of your mouth.
So many things over your friendship that he never thought about are coming back to him and he’s realized he doesn’t act that way with any of his other friends. Only you.
He also realizes that he hasn’t really been pretending with you at all.
“I think I love her,” Steve blurts out while he and Robin are organizing returns, the store luckily empty.
Robin reaches into her pocket, barely fazed, and tosses a handful of confetti at Steve. Some pieces stick to his hair, some to his clothes, most of it at his feet.
“What the hell?” He shakes the flecks out of his hair, “we have to clean that now.”
“I’ve been carrying around confetti for like a year waiting for this to happen!”
“Wait, what?”
“Steve, you’ve been loving her for a long time, hate to break it to you.”
“And you didn’t tell me?” He’s no longer preoccupied with the confetti.
“I was letting you do it on your own time. You’re welcome.”
Steve had only just deduced that he’s in love with you and yet, when he thinks about you, he feels the same way he has for years. He finds it hard to believe that he’s been blind to it for that long, but he has been called an idiot enough in his lifetime for it to make sense.
Then, there’s the fact that you’re not done fake dating yet, that there’s still dinner today to get through and he doesn’t know if he’ll be able to keep himself together.
“What am I gonna do, Robin?”
“You’re gonna tell her how you feel and I will finally know peace.”
“What if she doesn’t feel the same? What if I freak her out?”
“Steve, she looks at you like sun shines from your pores,” she places a hand on his shoulder. “You’ll be fine.”
-
He picks you up after work as promised, his hands holding the wheel a little tighter, his greeting a little louder than normal. You figure he’s just nervous about dinner.
Nobody brings up the almost kiss, and you don’t plan to. Maybe you read things wrong. Maybe he was aiming for your cheek all along. Maybe he’s been thinking about it as much as you have.
It seems that your feelings for Steve are present now more than ever. Impossible to ignore. It might have something to do with the Christmas spirit floating around, the lightness of the holidays. It definitely has something to do with you being Steve’s fake girlfriend.
Because it turns out, he’s an excellent boyfriend, real or not.
He opens doors for you, even if he has to jog ahead of you to do it. He’s always got at least one hand on you, warm and sure. He looks at you with so much care, his brown eyes stuck on you.
It’s all adding up and you feel like your love for him is overflowing, pouring out of you before you can reel it in. You just hope he doesn’t notice that you’re not acting, that you never were.
Walking into Steve’s kitchen, you pause in the doorway, him behind you, “this smells great, Mrs. Harrington.”
Though Steve knows she probably bought most of the stuff and then put it in pots and pans to make it look like she cooked, he agrees, “so great, mom.”
She turns to look at you both from her spot by the stove, “thank you. Oh!” She cuts herself off with a gasp, her gaze drifting above your heads.
Oh no.
“Mistletoe,” she says, pointing.
“Look at that,” you laugh, short and awkward.
“Steve, sweetie, kiss your girlfriend for tradition's sake, won’t you.”
He kisses you on the cheek.
“A real one, son,” his father pipes up from his seat at the table.
Steve finds your gaze, his eyes wide and questioning. Are you okay with this? He’s asking without saying it. You nod, barely there, but you nod and he sees it.
He cups your cheek in his hand, flashes of last night on your porch come to you. He leans in slowly, like he’s waiting for you to stop him. Instead of doing that, you hold his wrist in your hand, squeeze it. Your silent communication.
In a blink, his lips are on yours. Pillowy and almost shy, but he’s kissing you and you feel like you’re floating, your feet off the ground and everything. He pulls away before you can even register the fact that it happened.
Your heartbeat is loud in your ears, your lips still burning with the memory of his.
Steve can't believe he hasn’t kissed you before. You’re soft and you fit together so well, like the final piece of a jigsaw puzzle clicking into place. He’s kicking himself for not doing it last night, when you were alone, when it was real. Next time he kisses you, he thinks, it will be real.
He clears his throat, tearing his eyes away from you, “so, let’s eat.”
Just like that, he’s moving to the table, pulling out a chair for you and kissing the top of your head once you’ve sat down. Already, the extra affection he’s been giving you has been dizzying. Now, it’s dialed way up.
He helps his mom serve the food before he sits down, though all he gets as a thank you is a pat on the cheek. Next to you, you can see Steve’s leg bouncing up and down. You reach out and place a hand above his knee, stilling him and drawing his gaze to yours.
You smile, and you hope it’s enough to say it’s okay, it’s all gonna be fine. He rests his hand on top of yours, fingers laced together.
“So, Steve, have you been looking for jobs?” His father speaks up. The never-ending topic.
“No, dad. I have a job,” Steve doesn’t look up from his plate, pushing mashed potatoes around with his fork.
“Well, a real job, I mean.”
At Steve’s silence, his mom adds, “we just think, especially now that you have a girlfriend to support, you should look for something… better.”
You look up when she says it, eyes wide and hand tensing on Steve’s leg. You don’t understand how they care so much about what he does and so little about how he feels. He likes his job, you know that, and he’s tried to tell them multiple times over the past couple of days.
And still.
It’s impossible for you to sit by and listen to them talk to him the way they do, like he isn’t good enough. Like the only defining thing is his job, which isn’t even a bad one. What defines him is who he is as a person and he’s the best one in your life.
“Why does it matter so much?” You ask.
His parents look at you, surprised to be questioned, it seems. Steve looks at you, too, with something more like astonishment, appreciation.
“I’m sorry,” you continue, “it’s just, you haven’t seen your son in how long? And all you guys keep bringing up is his job, which he’s told you he actually enjoys. Shouldn’t that be enough for you?”
Steve’s world is tinting pink, heart-shaped lenses over his eyes hearing you defend him. Nobody’s ever tried to go against his parents for him, and here you are. Fuck, he loves you.
They’re quiet, and you’re not finished. “Steve is the greatest person I’ve ever met, and that’s no thanks to you. I’ve known him for a long time and not once have I seen you guys around. How can you judge him so much when you don’t even take the time to know him anymore?”
The room is dead quiet. Nothing but the clinking of forks against plates for the rest of the meal. You feel lighter, after saying what you did. Though you’re also terrified that you’ve overstepped, that Steve will be upset with you for causing a scene.
As if sensing your worry, he holds your hand just a bit tighter.
It’s not until after dinner, hidden away in his room, that you talk about what happened. Not the kiss; your outburst.
He shuts his door and you’re already apologizing, “listen, Steve. I'm so sorry if I made things worse, but I couldn’t just let them shit on your job anymore. I couldn’t. You’re my best friend, you know that, and-”
His arms are around you in a blink.
“Thank you,” he breathes into your hair. “Nobody’s ever done anything like that for me. Thank you, honey.”
“Oh,” you blink away your surprise and wrap your arms around his shoulders. “Anytime.”
“You’re really special.”
Your smile spreads, spilling before you can do anything about it. You hide your face in his neck and stay that way until he lets go, a flush in his cheeks and stars in his eyes.
Steve wanted to tell you he loves you right then, but the words seem stuck in his throat. They won’t come up. He wants to be with you for real, and though it happened in a rush, it also didn’t. His brain just needed to catch up to his heart.
He doesn’t say it, but he will. As soon as he can.
“Wanna go watch a movie?” You ask.
“Yeah, okay.”
Movie night. You and him. That’s real.
-
Steve’s parents seem to have gone out somewhere, the car missing from the driveway. They haven’t left, though. You and Steve checked for the suitcases (they’re sitting, already packed, in their room).
Playing the movie, yet another Christmas pick that Steve couldn’t say no to, you share a blanket. There’s plenty of room on the couch, you’re the only people there, and yet, Steve still tosses an arm over your shoulders and pulls you to lean against his side.
Maybe he’s just doing it in case his parents come home while you’re downstairs. That’s gotta be it.
“Is it bad that I’m sort of relieved they aren’t here right now?” Steve says to you, quiet.
“Not at all. You deserve better than what they give you, Steve.”
“You think so?”
“Are you kidding? I know so.”
He lets his head lean atop of yours, and that’s that.
You want to bring up the kiss, but then again, why would you? It’s not real. It’s not real no matter how much you wish it was, no matter how much it feels that way. You knew going into this that you might end up kissing Steve, you just didn’t know it’d fuck you up so much.
Part of you hopes that mistletoe will appear above your heads yet again, just to be able to feel the way you did when he kissed you. Heart fluttering, stomach twisting, warm all over.
Though Steve’s head feels relaxed, resting on yours, it’s overflowing with thoughts. You, his parents, the way you defended him, how it felt to kiss you, how much he wants to do it again. You. The entire length of the movie, he’s trying to think of a way to tell you he loves you. The best he comes up with is to wing it.
When the screen fades, and the film ends, you remember the gift you’d left in Steve’s room, buried at the bottom of your overnight bag (you decided to sleep over, something you’ve done too many times to count, and head to your place in the morning with Steve). You sit up, only to face him.
“I have something for you. C’mon,” you tug on his hand, leading him all the way to his own bedroom.
“What?”
“Just,” you make him sit down on his bed when you’re in the room, digging through your bag and finding the present you’d wrapped last night. “Here.”
He takes it from your hand slowly, like it’s the most precious thing in the world. He doesn’t open it right away, staring at the red and green patterned wrapping paper and the gold stick-on bow sitting in the middle of it.
“Open it,” you urge, shuffling nervously on your feet.
He shoots you a shy smile before tearing at the paper, revealing a scrapbook of sorts. Flipping through the pages, he finds memories upon memories. Pictures of you and him, of him and Robin, all three of you. Some with the kids or with Eddie. Most of them he doesn’t even remember taking.
And it’s more than just pictures. There’s movie tickets and receipts from random fast food dinners, confetti from a surprise party for Dustin and a piece of a plate Steve broke once.
It’s the most thoughtful thing anyone’s ever given him. It reminds him that he does have a family, no blood relation needed.
“Honey,” he says it quietly, his eyes watering ever so slightly. “This is- I don’t even know what to say.”
“I know it’s not much, but I thought you’d like it.”
“No. I love it. It’s perfect, seriously,” he runs his finger over a picture of the two of you, your faces squished together and your smiles absolutely ridiculous. “Best gift ever.”
He means it.
“I had some help with the pictures. Everyone in that book loves you, Steve.”
Everyone in that book. That means you love him, too. He knows that you could mean it platonically, but something about the way you look at him when you say it makes him think that he has to tell you. He has to try.
Hes suddenly very glad he bought you a locket for Christmas, and that he left it unwrapped because of his lack of skills in that department.
“Close your eyes,” he says.
“Steve-”
“Please,” he trades spots with you, sitting you on the edge of his bed, “close your eyes for a minute, ‘kay?”
“Okay,” you shut them tight, placing a hand over them as well, “double closed.”
He rushes to grab the locket from the bottom of one of his drawers, then grabs the tiniest bit of paper and manages to write as small as he can on it, placing the message in the necklace and closing it with a small click.
Steve reaches for the hand that isn’t covering your eyes, opening it up and placing the delicate piece of jewelry in it. “Okay, open.”
You do, glancing down to what rests in your palm. It’s gorgeous, dainty, and the corners of your mouth lift at the sight of it.
“It’s beautiful, Steve. You didn’t have to.”
“It’s a locket,” he says. His head is bent, shy and visibly nervous. “Open it, too.”
Your heartbeat picks up, like you know, subconsciously, that something big is hiding inside despite the small size of the necklace itself. You wedge your fingernail into the gap, pushing the locket open. The note inside makes your stomach drop.
In his messy, rushed writing, the words ‘I love you.’
You look at him, mouth agape and hopes way up. “Steve?”
“I mean it.”
“How-”
“I mean I’m in love with you, and I think I have been for a really, really long time. I guess it took you being my fake girlfriend for me to realize it.”
“You’re not pranking me, are you?”
You’ve spent so long loving him, and convincing yourself that he could never love you the same, that it feels unreal. Hazy, like a dream.
He sits beside you, cupping your face in his hands softly to make you look at him, “I’m not pranking you. I love you.”
“Holy shit. I love you, too. For so long. I never thought I had a chance with you.”
“I think you’re the only person who’s had a real chance with me since I met you, honey.”
Right there, discarded wrapping paper on the floor, the glow of Christmas lights shining through the window, you doubt you’ll ever take that locket off once it’s on.
You can’t stop yourself from rushing forward and kissing him. A small press of your mouth against his at first, then, it’s more. It’s slow and every single thing you’ve ever wanted. His lips move with yours like they’re the only ones that know you.
This time, when you kiss, there’s no question. It’s real and it’s thawing every single worry you ever had about this. This is real, you get to think now.
Steve pulls away only when your breathing gets heavier, only when he absolutely has to. His thumb trails over your cheek, a lover’s touch. He takes the necklace from your hand, puts it on for you and kisses you again when he’s done.
“Do you think this was a Christmas miracle?” You say, teasing.
“I think this was just me being too stupid to notice how I feel about you. I know now, though.”
“Because you needed a fake girlfriend.”
“Because I needed a fake girlfriend,” he confirms. “But, I’d like a real one now.”
“I think I can manage that,” you nod, a lovesick smile on your face.
For once, Steve’s glad his parents came home. He never would have asked you to fake date him if they hadn’t, and he wouldn’t have realized his very real feelings for you, either. So, maybe it is a Christmas miracle, after all.

Sweet Dreams
dad!leon x mom!fem!model!reader
not my gif^^
request: Hey sweetie, may i've a request for Leon Kennedy and female model hot reader.I wonder what Leon's home life is like with their s/o and daughter and son… or maybe two
requested by: @kawaistrawberry21
a/n: ty for the request !! i imagined this as infinite darkness leon, but you can picture it as whichever leon (it really doesn’t matter) ! i got a little carried away
key:
d/n - daughter’s name
m/n - middle name (if you don’t have one, ignore it)
genre: fluff, hurt/comfort, a little angst
summary: leon loves his gorgeous wife and his adorable daughter.
cw: implication of reader having absent parents, reader worries about being a bad mom, id!leon gets that dinner he wanted <3
—————————————————————————-
leon had made plans with his gorgeous wife to get dinner. they were supposed to meet back at home, and go, but leon just loved watching her do her job.
“ok, a little to the left- yup, now lean into- yes! perfect!” the photographer commanded y/n. leon watched before his wife could noticed he was there. ‘my god, she’s so beautiful. how did i get this lucky?’ he thinks to himself, smiling subconsciously at the model. she notices he’s there and smiles brightly at him. “mrs. kennedy, lose the smile.” her manager growls. “fine..” she mutters and gives him a bored expression, to which he rolls his eyes. “alright, last one; hands on your chest- yeah, chin up- good, part your lips- yes!!” the photographer orders. “…and that’s a wrap!”
y/n walks over to leon and gives him a kiss. “this is a nice surprise!” she smiled. “thought i’d pick you up before we leave.” he smiles back. leon’s smile was rare for everyone, but for you, it was his default expression around you. “and you just look so perfect, how could i pass up an opportunity to see my beautiful wife in action?” he says and you laugh. “y/n. m/n. kennedy. stunning as always! you were amazing today!” the photographer praises. “aw, thank you, paula, couldn’t have done it without you of course.” you give her a hug. “is this your husband?” she gasps. “yes, this is leon!” you grin proudly. he waves awkwardly and says hi (in true leon fashion). “damn, your husband’s fine too!” paula exclaims. “alright, see you tomorrow.” you sigh, hiding your laughs. “bye, y/n! nice to meet you, leon!” paula waves. “you too, paula.” he says and the two of you walk off, arms linked.
“don’t you have to return that dress you were wearing?” leon asks as you both get in the car. “nope, perks of being a model.” you smile.
you both make it home. “mommy and daddy are home!” your 6 year old daughter, d/n, squeals when she sees you, hugging you and leon’s legs. “hey sweetie! we missed you!” leon says as he lifts her up, perching her in his arms. your nanny, melissa, walks over to you and leon. “hi mr and mrs kennedy!” she greets you. you talk about d/n and work and tell melissa you’re going out for dinner tonight. “no problem!” melissa smiles and you and leon say goodbye to your daughter. “be good for miss melissa, okay my love?” you hug your daughter. “okay, mommy!” she says. you both say “i love you” and leave.
you get to the restaurant and talk about work and life and all that stuff (a/n: i’m lazy , sorry).
you get home at about 7:45pm and see melissa on the couch, reading. she put d/n to sleep 15 minutes ago. “thank you, melissa. we’ll see you tomorrow.” leon thanks her and gives her her paycheck. melissa leaves and before you can even move, you hear the pitter patter of little feet come down the hall. “aren’t you supposed to be in bed, princess?” leon chuckles at his daughter. she makes grabby hands at his as to signal “pick me up”, so he does. “i wanted to wait for you and mommy to get home!” she pouted. “will you read me a story?” she asks. “of course.” he says and begins carrying her to her room.
you and leon had both been gone more recently and you felt terrible. you had never wanted to be absent for your children. guilt washed over you. you make your way to d/n’s room and there’s leon reading her a story. d/n signals you to sit next to her on the bed by patting the spot on the left to her, leon already sitting on her right side. you sit down and cuddle her in your arms as you both listen to leon narrate the story.
by the time he’s done, she’s fast asleep. “good night, princess. i love you so much.” leon whispers and kisses his daughter on the forehead softly. “night, sweetie. i hope you know how much i love you.” you lay her down and smile melancholically. you and leon tiptoe out of the room and make your way into your bedroom.
he unzips your dress as he asks “what’s wrong?”. “we’ve been gone so much recently, i don’t want d/n to feel abandoned.” you sigh. “listen, my love, sometimes we have to work more times than others. you work your ass off and you still manage to be an amazing mother. we occasionally both get breaks, and we get to be with d/n more, but we have to work harder to get to those breaks.” leon reassures you. “i just- i never wanted to end up like my-“ you start, but leon interrupts you. “and you’re not. you’re not like them. you’re a fantastic parent.” he tells you. “thank you, honey. what would i do without you?” you sigh. “i know, right?” he replies sarcastically.
you both finish getting changed into your pajamas and doing your night routine and get in bed. “thank you so much, y/n.” leon whispers, hugging you into his chest. “for what?” you respond. “i’m so lucky to have you and d/n. i don’t know what i did to deserve this.” he says. “you deserve happiness more than anyone, my love.” you cup his cheek.
suddenly, you both hear a blood-curdling scream. leon jumps up so fast it almost gave you whiplash. he runs down the hall to d/n’s room and you follow close behind. there is d/n sitting in her bed, tears streaming down her face. “what’s wrong, baby?” you ask as you cradle her in your arms. leon checks the room for intruders, but there are none. “i- i had a n-nightmare… you and daddy were g-gone and i-“ she stutters through sobs before bursting into tears. “oh, i’m so sorry, baby.” you sympathize as you hug her closer, wanting to take away all her worries and fears. leon sits next to you and takes her softly from your arms. “mommy and i aren’t going anywhere, princess. i won’t let anyone hurt you. i promise.” he chokes, his eyes watering the smallest amount, but he’s quick to cover it up. she clings onto him and sobs more. “can i s-sleep in your bed tonight?” she sniffles. “of course, sweetie.” you smile.
leon carries her to your shared bedroom and lays her down between the two of you and you both cuddle her. “sweet dreams, princess.”

Your work is awesome!!
I'll read everything else rq, but first-
Hello, how was your day? How are you feeling?
If it's okay, may I share a bit of my game and ask how will characters react on it?
So uhh
I always say out loud how adorable Nahida is and how she is my "adopted child"
Also during the archon quest I was litteraly chanting "someone help, love and protect her please"
Also when I didn't get Nahida on her banner, I was like "Sages, if it was You, I'm about to destroy you"
I also always greet my team and say "bye" if I'm leaving.
I switch to every character and tell them it. Even how THEY did while I was gone
Maybe I'm going insane Idk?
If you don't want to do it, it's okay!^^
Bye-bye! And again- your work(s) are awesome! Gotta read some more
I may sound insane but I as well say “Hello / hi” to Genshin characters one time because I wanted them to feel welcomed??? I’m kind of new to this shit so I stole my friend’s phone to say hi to them 💀💀 this is such a cute request overall, Nahida is such a baby 💔💔
Also I’m doing just well hon, thank you for asking me. <3 I hope you’re feeling well yourself.
Teyvat is protective of their creator no matter what gender they’re specified with;; however, it seems that you favor Nahida more than others— Most likely as if you made her to actually be your related child. Nahida was hesitant and shy at first, but over the time when she thought about it, she couldn’t help but feel so free and blessed with such a humble God mother/father figure like you.
You’re protective, even if it’s the traveller and Paimon… You still warned them to make sure that Nahida stays secured and safe. Everyone in different nations although takes this request far too seriously- that at this point, Nahida feels rather isolated. Though she knew you never meant any harm, how could she ever assume you would? She’s a wise sweet little girl, humble as you even, she honestly could see the connection of being your child. Literally.
But, that of course makes other children jealous… NPC children would most likely have different voice lines when it comes to Nahida too— which is basically in Sumeru city, and, I guess the Archons has to be checked 24/7 all of the sudden? Confused as you are, you weren’t displeased with it, you felt… Happy actually. Happy that people are acknowledging Nahida. (Although they’re fighting over who gets to be Nahida’s other parent)
Alhaitham especially would have some rooms prepared for Nahida, like, y’know, if she’s tired in a middle of nowhere— there’ll always be a house nearby her area, her spot. The followers of you would be cooking food nonstop for the little child, hoping that she’s willing to test their taste. After all, only she knows what you love in a guy/girl ~!
Oh oh, and since you did say you want someone to also protect Nahida during a quest— Nahida will be bawling her eyes out and ugly cry. (Pretty cry actually) People will be freaking out of why the fuck is shE EVEN CRYING— The NPCs will all baby her and, treasure hoarders? They won’t even get the chance to lay a finger on her because of the Archons killing them off. (Not like you know 😻)
Nahida would be an absolute troll however. Yes, she is sweet and always devoted to drop the entire lore to help people out— (For example she dropped the entire shit lore to Aether / Lumine) But she is heavily LOYAL to her mother/father figure.
Imagine Dottore especially trying to talk it out with her since they did sort of have a conversation beforehand. So he thought it’s only fair he becomes her dad, by marrying you right? HAHAHA, wrong. Nahida is truly worried and overprotective of you, despite being just a kid version of her Archon self. She will lie, telling things to the Fatui doctor what you did not like.
And this has gone on for so long, it’s absolutely hilarious. Especially for Sumeru as they see this as an attempt to bring their divine being closer to them.
But the thing is, you’re not that expressive— you’re just existing and trying to live on while babying Nahida who just sobs into your affection. Girlie never got so much, so it was truly a blessing to have herself in your care.
And talking about Sages, just imagine Enjou overall having troubles with trying to get to you. All because of Sages 💀 look, if mans wanna get your forgiveness, better as well protect Nahida from the half monster hybrid looking ass hot man. Enjou is in so much misery… (Cue CPR)
Also, can we just appreciate how caring you are? No, it’s not only for Nahida you’re just caring for— it’s not even the reason she’s so loyal to you. (Well, it is but still) The true reason is, is because you keep saying “Hello” and “Bye” to them everyday, no matter how tiring it might get.
I think Diluc would especially love this since uhm, well, his dad ain’t here y’know y’know. (Or any traumatized character really)
…
Imagine Archon Timmie flying up to the heavens above just to replace Nahida and be your son— (Archon Timmie /srs) But then fails because Nahida is too logical and wise that his brain couldn’t take it anymore either.
Okay I’m stopping there 💀💀💀
Also have a sneak peak of my fanfic because I know some people will assume I’m not working on it 💔
It looks shitty but whatever

"Cause you punched him!" my dad argues.
"That doesn't mean I have to change schools! it's the principal's son he probably told his dad."
"Enough of this young lady, you are going to nevermore, and you are going to love it there." my mom says closing the argument.
After that, I shut up being silent the whole way to Nevermore.
And now I'm here in front of the gates of Nevermore. I feel crazy. I know if someone else did punch someone. they would just get detention but this was the principles son. a bastard among basterds he thinks he's the king of the school just because his dad is the principal? 'there are always people like that in the world all you have to do is prove them wrong' my grandma once said so I'll trust her, once I get out of this school. I will get back at Jack.
I take my bags and hug my mom and dad then I say goodbye. the bags were kinda hevy but I think I'm strong enoph to cary them. I walk up the stairs. finally reaching my dormroom I had to put my bags down to open the door and I saw two people in my dorm. I thought I was in the wrong one until someone said.
"Oh! you must be the new girl." a girl says standing up on her two feet.
"Hi." I say awkwardly the other girl says 'awkward' in the background but I don't hear her all I was looking at was the plain room. that consisted of a plain twin bed, a normal bedside table, and nothing else honestly I expected worse.
I put my bags down and the other girl leaves the girl said 'bye Yoko' so I assumed her name is Yoko. cute name for someone who looks like a real-life human zombie if it had not green skin.
"The one who just left is Yoko she's you're roommate I'm just staying here Yoko's bed is very comfy so much better than mine," The girl says sitting back on the bed facing me.
"My name is Y/n what's yours?" I say asking her name and sitting down on the bed too. I can't just keep calling her 'girl' for the rest of the school year.
"Enid" enid says then akuward silece again
"Well, I have to go now," I say trying to get out of the awkward situation even though I don't even know how the school works I don't even know what to do after I get out of the room.
"But why you just got here I wanna get to know you!" Enid says standing up "Wait your new right? I can give you a tour?" Enid offers. I say yes. and now were walking down the halls of nevermore academy.
I never thought I'd be walking in the hallway of nevermore academy I thought if I was good enough. they wouldn't send me to detention or suspend me at all.
for that matter, I just lived my life in silence. always letting the other kids take the spotlight. I just stayed hidden some people don't even know my name. it's dumb. but I loved it. I loved being the school mystery.
Of course, I never told my parents they would urge me to 'make friends' but those 'friends' always stay away from me for some reason.
"Earth to y/n!" Enid says into my ear waving her hand in my face. crap. I was spaced out.
"What were you thinking about silly?" Enid questions. "I wasn't thinking about anything," I say quickly, trying to avoid the question then Enid opens her hands as if she was pointing at, the lunch room I supposed.
"This is the quad," Enid says introducing me to a place with lunch tables and people in black and blue outfits "Come on I'll introduce you to some of my friends," Enid says walking towards a guy.
"Y/n this is Ajax, ajax y/n," Enid says introducing me to a boy named Ajax I smile trying to look decently good for someone I just met.
"I'm Ajax," the boy says and reaches his hand out for me to shake. I shake his hand and then let go.
"welp bye, Ajax I gotta introduce y/n to Wednesday!" Enid says, grabbing my hand and guiding me to wednesday.
"Who's wednesday?" I ask, wondering who the person was.
"Wednesday my roomie," Enid says runing to a girl with an all-black attire she looked really pretty.
"Wednesday!" Enid shouts to get the girls' attention.
"Enid what are you doing here I thought you were with Yoko," wednesday says dully.
"Oh yeah but I wanted to give the new girl a tour around the place ya know so she doesn't get lost," Enid says excitedly to introduce me to her friend.
Wednesday looks at me with her black eyes like she was examining me for some reason it didn't feel odd I kinda got shy and looked down at my shoes until Enid put her hand on my shoulder I look up and see wednesday again it was not visible but I'm blushing
"y/n this is wednesday, wednesday this is Y/n," Enid says and I reach my hand out for wednesday to shake it was just an excuse to hold her hand but she only nodded I pull my hand away a little sad I didn't get to touch her hand
I wave my hand awkwardly not knowing what to do I mean she was just staring at me what am I supposed to do?
"Well I'll leave you two alone I kinda have to do something," Enid says seeing the tension in the air I almost tell her to stay like she is the only one that can break the tension
Wednesday walks away and I go after her now knowing what to do "So where are you going?" I ask and she turns her head slightly to look at me not blinking "I'm going to class why are you following me" she says I don't know why I'm following her I should stop I'm probably making her unconftrorbal
I stop in my tracks and say "Ye-yeah I should go I have um ms. thornhill ill just ask someone else to show me her class" Wednesday hears this and grabs my hand before I could walk one step
"That's also my class," she says dragging me through the hallways I was surprised but relaxed in her cold hands I'm holding her hand I'm holding her hand I'm holding her hand I'm holding her han- before I could think any further we reach a door I assume Miss. Thornhills class
"So this is miss. Thornhill's class?" I say a little disappointed when wednesday dropped my hand
She doesn't answer and sits down on one of the chairs I sit next to her not knowing anyone in the class she glares at me but I look at the teacher focusing on the lesson
*Time skip*
It is now lunch and I look around for Enid or wednesday she walked out the door right when the lesson ended and I have to confront Enid for leaving me in that awkward situation
I feel someone tap my shoulder and I look behind me seeing Wednesday and Enid hiding behind a pillar in the quad she has a thumbs up I feel like she knows something but I look back at wednesday
"Um, do you need anything?" I ask not knowing why she would come up to me she looks at me with that look again just like when we first met which was 3 hours ago.
"Is Enid behind me?" she asks I nod and before I could ask why.
Wednesday walks away and enid runs towards me "What did she say?" Enid asks.
"She just said 'is enid behind me?' and then left why do you want to know?" I ask and her eyes widen.
"She's totally into you. I saw her walking out of the classroom and in the dorm, she wouldn't stop covering her mouth and looking down like she has never done that before. like ever." enid clams.
"What how- why would she be into me?" I ask stunned by the news.
"I don't know but she's definitely into you and I know you're also into her 'cause I say you blush when she was looking at you don't try to lie," Enid says then walks off back to her dorm.
How can she also be into me I mean wednesday? how? wait if Enids telling the truth I might have a chance with her.

hello !! i was wondering if you could do a friends to lovers angst with a happy ending fic with klaus and gender neutral reader??
Always and Forever.
Being Klaus Mikaelson’s best friend has its issues lets say. You know with the permanent target on my back and his siblings always needing me to sort him out. It gets a little ridiculous. But i kinda signed up for it so eh what you gonna do?
Im a werewolf, Klaus and i met through Hayley when she wanted me to help look after Hope. Once Hope was born the Mikaelsons began taking out their enemies one by one so that when Hope grows up she can be safe. I’m an emotional support animal for them most of the time and i got used to that role. They all tell interesting stories anyway as they’re like a million. Klaus has just always been my favourite though, like have you seen him?? yea he’s fucking hot. Accent? to die for. He paints his feelings and is a great dad, if i didn’t know he was a psychotic serial killing original hybrid id be screaming husband material…sooo
So i have like a teensy crush on him. It’s not like im gonna get with him though, its just a you’re cute and i see you all the time and you make me blush and make me feel butterflies in my stomach and i think about you all the time kind of thing you know?
doesn’t matter. Anyway… right now im sat with hope in the play room. We’re both sat on a big beanbag reading kids books, she’s learning how to read and spell so it’s fairly amusing listening to her pronounce it.
Halfway through the book there was a loud slamming and a mix of all the siblings yelling, Klaus’s being the most heard as usual
“hope honey? you keep reading okay? im gonna be right back yea?” i told her and hiss her temple
“bye bye y/n, don’t get mad at dada he gets sad when your mad” i smiled at her and waved as i closed the door so she couldn’t hear the argument
i made my way down the stairs and to the main room where Klaus was pointing a dagger at Rebekah while Elijah was cautiously making his way closer to Niklaus
“ah shit” i whispered but they all heard me and heads turned to me. Klaus visibly gulped and hesitated when on his grip of the dagger, he didn’t like me to see his violent side knowing that i was someone who actually liked him it scared him that i would leave too
“love, you need to go back with Hope for a bit please.” i kept my eyes trained on his as i neared the situation, Elijah took a step towards Rebekah so they could make a run for it when Nik was in a less aggressive position
“can we talk about what you want to do before you do it? Hopes waiting for you, she wants to read you a story, she’s getting really good at her big words now” i could see his face softening, he glanced at the floor for a second before nodded stiffly, i put my hand out and he dropped the dagger into it, the other siblings sped out of the room immediately.
i took his hand and lead him up the stairs i stopped outside the play room and looked at him for a moment
“you can’t go in mad you know that…” he kept his eyes down as he nodded, it was then that he sniffed and i noticed the tears in his eyes
“hey, it’s okay, come on, come here” i brought to his room instead and sat him down on his bed, i put the dagger somewhere on his shelf and moved to lay down on his bed, i tugged his arm making him lay with his head on my shoulder and his arm across my body while he curled into my side. i pet his hair and rubbed his back
“don’t be sad honey, you’re too pretty to pout” i felt his tears hit my skin and held him tighter
“i can’t keep either of you safe, not…you and not Hope, i c..i can’t” i kissed his head softly and squeezed his arm
“you are doing such a great job nik, Hope and i both know how hard you’re working, everyone is gonna keep her safe, you are doing so well, i promise you that” he made a little noise, somewhat like a whimper that i don’t think he meant to let out
“but you’re not safe, you’re never safe anymore. It’s because of me and we both know that” i shook my head and sat us both up, i cupped his face between my hands and stroked his stubble
“im here by my choice, i want to be here. You don’t need to worry about me okay?” tears seemed to never stop falling from his pastel blue eyes
“i can’t lose you” he whispered making my heart break, i brought his face closer to mine and kissed his forehead
“you won’t, im staying”
“you promise?”
“you want me to give you my word all Elijah style?”
he laughed at that and nodded resting his head against mine
“i, as an honorary Mikaelson, give you, Niklaus Mikaelson, my very special, ultra powerful word that i will never, ever leave you. I love you.” he was smiling wide and laughing
“mmm that was very ultra specially powerful i must say, and i love you too” i laughed with him and wrapped my armed around his neck
“mm yes Mr Mikaelson only the uttermost best for you, my lord” i spoke in a mocking accent and threw my head back dramatically
“you are amazing you know that?” he spoke in a hushed tone and i nodded with a warm smile
“I love you.” his face was serious as he said it making me giggle
“uhuh i love you too we say it all the time” he shook his head and pulled me closer
“you don’t understand, i love you, not like you’re my friend and i love you like, i want to be with you and marry you love you!” he didn’t give me a chance to respond before his lips were on mine, i kissed back as fast as possible as we melted against each other
“i love love you too Nik, remember if you marry me its gotta be always and forever though and i expect a ring” he chuckled to that and nodded hastily
“ the best ring, the best dress, the best everything for you my love, always and forever”
i was smiling ear to ear as i nodded
“We need to go see Hope”
“I think she’s listening at the door..”
little giggles sounded through the room as she launched herself at us both
“i wanna be a flower girl!!”
we all stayed up late reading stories with hope and looking at engagement rings, supernatural war or not, we would stay together. Always and forever.

Chapter Five 🤩
The clock on the wall, strikes seven, the large man sits at his desk, the office is quiet as all the other people has gone home too their loved ones, his usual put together look, is now signs of a stressed man, his eyes darker and tired as he darts across the stack of papers in front of him, his tie loosened, the first few buttons of his light blue shirt is undone, he's eyebrows furrowed, as he tried to see if his taken care of all the evidence, all the witnesses, since Paul Summers left he had this dreadful feeling, something is going to happen, but he just can't put his finger on it, no matter how long it takes he will figure it out tonight, nothing is going to distract him, with that thought he puts his phone on silent.
Her first day back was exhausting to say the least, she was literally dead on her feet, pretty sure, she had to deal with more patients today on her first day back, than in her entire career. Okay, maybe that's not entirely true, but still, it's how she felt… Well luckily, it's the end of her shift, so she can go home. As she wàlked through the doors, she remembered what happened between her and Sam. Her heart sank, he hadn't even called or texted her. Then it must be true, he found another one to love. Feeling her phone vibrating, smiling slightly now, thinking it's Sam…
“Hello” sounds hopeful
“Hello sweetie” hearing her father's voice has always made her feel somewhere between happy and stressed.
“Oh hello dad”
"Expecting someone else honey?”
“It's okay, can I help with something?”
“Just want to know if you are finished at work?”
“Yes I am dad, why do you ask?”
“Oh! Just wanted to find out if I could come over for dinner?”
“Uhm… dad, I … well tonight's not a good night, I’m a little tired”
“Oh it’s okay, we can make it another night then, are you taking the subway again?” she could’ve sworn she heard her father chuckle.
“Thanks for understanding dad, and yes I am”
He stayed quiet, then his voice got softer. “Sweetie do you still remember how I’d take you on the subway, while you were still a small little girl, - I miss those”
Smiling, remembering, those were the days, where her father was still so kind, sweet and loving.. “Yes dad, I miss those days as well, we should do it again some time.”
His voice returned to the normal cold tone “Yes! I have to go now, good bye”
Before she could even respond he ended the call. Shaking her head while holding the phone in her hand, her fingers instinctively scrolls through her phone, pressing on the dial icon, Sam, a picture of him, comes on the screen, but it just keeps ringing, and ringing, till eventually, she hears his professional voice “You’ve reached Sam Winchester, call the office, or leave a message” feeling the burning pressure behind her eyes, as she puts the phone in and walk into the subway.
Taking in her usual spot, popping in her earbuds, listening to Patsy Cline, something she always did, whenever she felt sad, it’s like that woman knows exactly what broken-hearted people go through, she softly hums, with the music.
Taking a sip of the bottle of bourbon covered with the brown paper bag, he’s eyes moves around the people, well that is until he spots her, she’s out of her scrubs, and now she’s wearing a tracksuit, her hair tied up in a messy bun, he moves closer without her noticing, he listens to her humming, he couldn't hold in his frustration. “Oh hell no, Patsy Cline, are you for real”
She looks up into his emerald green eyes, “What is your problem?”
He smirks “My problem is Patsy Cline Doctor, it’s so damn sad”
Irritation in her voice “Well I can’t help that you don’t have taste in music, so move along, if my music bothers you so much”
A mischievous grin on his perfect face “Bite me! I’m just saying at least Led Zeppelin gives you a little beat, don’t you think?” he lets out a little chuckle “you probably don’t even know who he is”
She glares at him, “I know exactly who he is, I love Classic Rock ‘n Roll, but unlike you, I have interest in various genres.”
“Oh, I got to say I’m shocked, that someone like you can have such good taste?”
Her blue eyes piercing his “Dean is it?”
He just simply nods, with a mischievous smirk,
“Well Dean, what exactly does ‘someone like you’ mean?” she said, air quoteting.
He laughs a little bit, and for a second she could feel her heart flutter.
His green eyes scan’s her whole body, but falls on her heart shaped lips, unconsciously he wets his lips, leaning a little forward, he whispers in her ear, “Someone as uptight as you”
She could smell the bourbon on his breath, She pushed him back, folding her arms in front of her “Me uptight? I’m not uptight! I’m professional, there’s a difference!”
A flirty grin spreads across his lips “So you wanna tell me that you can have fun?”
All of a sudden a loud bang can be heard, the earth is shaking underneath their feet, people are screaming, crying, they plunged into total darkness, there were spine chilling screams coming from every corner, after another big exploding sound it was dead silent, not a single sound could be heard.
The voice on the end of the phone call sounds bitter and cold, so cold, “Is it done?”
“Yes Mr. Summers it’s done, that little subway bombs ought to keep that damn lawyer busy, and the other first responders, I’ll start finding the witnesses”
“Good, now do your damn work!’ He shouted. As he ends the call, he watches out of his office window, in the distance you can see smoke, knowing it came from the subway’s direction, a smile crept on his hard and cold face, knowing he will get out of the charges once again, pity his only daughter had to die, but at least he will carry on like usual, like the well known, kind businessman, everybody loves, and his campaign to run for mayor, will carry on and even become more popular. After a moment of silence, he laughs, the people of this town will feel so sorry for him, after losing his loving daughter in a subway explosion.
There’s a dim light flickering in the distance, as she opens her eyes more, feeling disorientated and a little hazy, feeling an intense weight on her, trying to access whatever it could be she realises it’s Dean, he must’ve tried to cover her from getting hurt, his wrapped in a protective, sheltering way over her, her voice hoarse “D…Dean, hey wake up please” she can feel his swallow breathing on her face.
His eyes slowly opened, the first thing he laid his eyes on was Dr. Summers “Damn you okay?”
A smile crept on her lips, “I mean I will be if you get off of me!”
“Oh sorry, I.. I just tried, nevermind!” he pushes onto the floor lifting his body off of her, when he is standing he gently helps her up too. She gets up, her body hurts, her blue eyes frightened when she glances at the sight in front of her, there’s people laying all over, hurt, the distraught looks on their faces, the little children clinging to their parents, her voice almost breaking “We need to help them get out of here” turning to face Dean.
Dean stares directly into her ocean blue eyes, for a second he sees past her strong demeanour, there’s so much compassion, he just nods his head, “I agree”
The both of them, try to access the situation, helping those who isn’t as injured to a place with little to no debris, her heart breaks when she comes too a mother and her little boy, the woman doesn’t have a pulse, but the little boy with tears in his eyes, just clings to his deceased mother, not wanting to let her go. “Hey Sweetie” , his big eyes just stare at her. She kneels down to pick him up, but he just screams and cries, “I know, sweetie, I know, but mommy is going to stay there for a little while okay” she tries to calm him down, knowing this must be so overwhelming for him. She hands him to another older woman, too look after as she checks on the other people.
Dean walks towards her, “I think I see a way out of here, we can get the people through that entrance” pointing his finger towards a small opening, that was once the entrance to the subway.
“Okay, let’s get these people out of here” both of them get to work, she helps the wounded to the best she can, and Dean tries to get something to force the door open, so he can get closer to the entrance, find a way to secure it.
Sam’s hand reaches for the coffee mug, bringing it closer to his lips, then staring down at the empty mug, cussing underneath his breath. For the first time that evening he gets us from the table, walking into the kitchen, wanting some coffee, something in the distance out the window, catches his eyes, there’s smoke everywhere, he opens the window, the sounds of the sirens came crashing down like waves, realising the smoke is coming from the direction of the subway. He’s feet didn’t move fast enough, he reached for his phone, he needs to know if Amy is home already or if she.. Shaking his head, he can’t think about that now, he takes his phone in his hand, seeing a missed call from Amy about three hours ago, holding in his breath. He calls her back, it just keeps ringing… until he hears her voice, ‘Hey this is Amy, you know what to do’, he throws the phone down, Pressing his palms against the table. “Dammit, Dammit” running his hands over his face, whispering underneath his breath ”please let her be home, please”, he grabs his keys, leaving the files just spayed open on the table, he runs towards his car, he needs to drive home, he needs to find Amy there, she just needs to be okay. His stuck in a whirlwind of emotions, it feels like he can’t breath, but at the same time, like his heart is racing, The traffic is a mess, as he tries his best too get to their apartment, “please let her be there” he says, as his hands clenched the steering wheel, his knuckle’s white.
She heard Dean laughing, and to be honest it sounded like a melody, looking over at him, she could tell that he got the door open, after a lot of force, Dean called her over, as she starts to walk towards him, she started to feel a little light headed, but just shakes it off, their currently running on adrenaline, so for now, she can’t feel the pain. “Yeah?”
There was excitement in his eyes “We did it, we can get out of the subway car, then lead the people to the entrance, we’ll figure something out when we get there, what do you say, can we start helping the people out?”
Smiling “Hell yeah, let’s get these people to safety” they didn’t waste any more time, as a matter of fact they started with the older people, then the middle aged adults, finally the children. She took one last glance at the wreckage, taking in a deep breath then giving her hand to Dean as he helped her out, he got out as well. All of them, about thirty people, laugh as they just got out of that, but it’s short lived as they feel the trembling of the floor, she tries to grab onto something, but nothing, that’s when she felt, strong, muscular arms snaking around her waist, glancing up, her eyes caught his emerald green eyes once again, just mouthing a “thank you”, the trembling stops.
A large man, started to shout “All of us are going to die down here” Dean removes his arms from Amy’s waist, walks up to him, his face is angered, his voice low, almost like a growl “You listen to me, stop saying shit like that, your scaring the people, we will get out of here” the man grabs Dean by his shirt, shouting “who put you in charge?”
Dean gives him a sort of devilish smirk “Stop touching me, or the medics will have to carry your beaten up ass out of here” the man puts his hands in the air “alright buddy, no need to be so uptight” Dean turns around, walks towards the entrance of the tunnel, he inspects it, then his voice got a little louder, “Alright I need all of us too work together, we can remove some off these broken off concrete blocks and then we will get a way out of here, who is willing to help me move some of these?” A lot of passengers went up too help and Amy rushed over too the pregnant woman they helped out, as she was whining, “What’s wrong Miss?” sounding concerned.
The woman looked at her, her voice shaky. “I….I think my contractions started” Amy smiled at her, “I take it’s not your first?” the woman answered “No, it’s my fifth”, Amy places her down, removing her tracksuit jacket, placing it underneath her head as she laid down the woman, taking her pulse, then speaking in a very calming voice “Alright your pulse is a little elevated, but under the circumstance, I’d that’s pretty normal” she lets out a little laugh “we will have to check and see how far the contractions are but, I’ll say we will get you out of here, before the little one, gets born, okay?” The woman smiles faintly, “thank you”.
His hand shakes as he places the key in the lock, something tells him Amy isn’t home, but he needs it to not be true, he just wants to hold her close to him. The door screeches open, the whole apartment is dark, except for the microwave’s that is still left on the 30 seconds timer, of the milk Amy warmed for her coffee that morning. Not even bothering to switch on the lights, he knew, deep down he knew she’s not there, he pulled the chair out, placing his phone on the kitchen table, he stared at the timer, he felt numb, his mind blank and racing at the same time, is the love of his life really gone? Did she die thinking that he cheated on her, that he didn’t love her, that can’t be further from the truth. The saltwater behind his eyes started to burn, he tried to gulp down his feelings and emotions, but the more his mind raced, the worse it got, threatening to burst. The ringing of the phone scared the shit out of him, grabbing it, “Hello” he sounded distant, defeated.
“Sam? I’m at the explosion site, we are getting passengers out, Amy is alive, some of the passengers told us that she helped them” Cas sounded hopeful, excited even, he knew Sam would be worried sick!
He couldn’t believe what he heard, his Amy, is still alive, helping passengers, of course she is, “thank you, I’m coming” he said, grabbing his keys, his feet barely touching the ground, running towards his car, he needed to get there, see for himself, when Amy gets out, to hold her, to kiss her, to tell her how much he loves her.
Dean and Amy helped the passengers one for one out, they felt so overjoyed, they’re getting out of here, they're going to make it, all of them are. With only ten more people and the two of them that needed to go through, they were hopeful, the ending was near.
The man, walked right into Sam’s office, flashlight in hand, baklava covering his face, he needed to find the safe, break in, and find the documents, he was looking for the hidden safe, but low and behold, everything he needed was displayed on the table,, “this was so easy” he laughed to himself.
Gathering all the evidence and then taking the lighter fluid from his backpack, throwing it everywhere, as he walked out, he took the match and threw it into the office, watching the flame grow bigger and bigger, laughing, his boss Mr. Summers will most probably give him a little bonus. He walked out of the office, the papers in hand, and a determination to get these witnesses and hand them over to the fixer John.
The sight of the ambulances, fire trucks, cop cars, standing around, was just one too much to bear, as he got out he could see the hurt people, getting treated. He ran towards Cas, needed to find out some more information, of where Amy is.
Dean picked up the pregnant women gently, carried her to the opening, placed her on the backboard that was hoisted down, he and Amy made sure to strap her in tightly, Amy smiled “told you we would get you out of here” the woman stated to cry, “Thank you, Amy, Dean… I’m going to call my little girl ‘Amy-Deana’ to always remember what you two did for us” both of them smiled and chuckled a bit, “We’d be honoured” his gruff voice sounded joyful. “See you at the hospital,” Amy smiled. Dean tucked on the rope, letting them know they can pull her back up.
For a couple of seconds, there was this emotional, heartfelt stare between the two of them. It might’ve been the adrenaline, maybe the fear, but they were drawn to each other like a magnet, like two souls who were lost at sea, like two stars shining brightly, despite the darkness around them. The stare spoke deeper than any words ever could, it was a silent conversation between two strangers who grew closer in such a short while, their eyes filled with a million questions, and her heart this intense amount of guilt. She quickly looked away, the quilt eating her up, she had Sam, how can she feel like this towards a stranger. Dean’s voice snapping her back to reality.
Holding out his hand “Come on Amy, let's go home” his green eyes were filled with hope, as she took his hand, smiling her voice was soft “Thank you”.
He pulled her closer to him, glancing in her eyes, he was tempted to kiss her right then and there, but he didn’t, instead he said “you are one hell of a doctor Amy” she tried to still her racing heart, being this close to him, she smiled “and you… has gotten us out of this”
The earth underneath their feet shook, he instantly wrapped his arms around her, there were this loud rushing piercing sound coming from the other tunnels, the feeling of pressure of the sound waves were getting louder and louder as the thousand gallons water came flooding towards them, their face was fear stricken, their breaths was short and rapid, their hearts pounding. They had nowhere to go, they clung to each other, knowing this could be the end, Then the gallons of water came, hitting their bodies like, tremendous hammer blows, with every drop it tried tearing them apart, the water came crashing down on them from all directions, knocking them off their feet, they were tossed around like ragdolls, with no sense of direction or control or a way out.

I might as well beg you to make a series of headcanons of Percy and Sunny please. I’m invested now 😭what about them going on a quest??
a/n: this is not my best work! you wanted headcanons but this is some kind of hc-one shot hybrid😭 i still hope you enjoy <3
with a lot of struggle
you FINALLY finished your school year
the bell had barely rung and you were already dashing out of the school
your mom was waiting in the parking lot with your camp bags
“am i still picking up percy?” “no that loser went early”
you were still a bit salty about it
you made a playlist for the car ride
party of one </3
now your mom was gonna berate you for your report card
after a bit of driving (and a lot of back and forth between you and your mom)
you finally got to camp!!!
you had barely managed to drag yourself across the threshold of camp before you heard a familiar voice
“SUNNY’S HERE” will yelled
as much as he annoyed you, will was like your little brother
you care about him a lot, and he’s always gonna be your number one
percy is still a little salty about that
SPEAKING OF PERCY
you can barely greet him before he’s tackling you with a hug and peppering your face with kisses
this is not a surprise for campers since percy has been counting the hours until you would be at camp
“only 76 more hours” “until what?” “until i can hug sunny again”
poor boy missed you so much
he went to your spring show, and that was the last time he saw you before he was called to camp
that was about 3 weeks ago
as much as you called on IM, you missed him a lot
but now you’re back at camp together!
he helps you with your bags and he’s extra careful with your guitar
“PRECIOUS CARGO COMING THROUGH!”
you can’t tell if he’s talking about you or the guitar
when the stoll twins almost set your hair alight with a flaming arrow
you realize he’s talking about you
“sorry sun-“ “WATCH IT”
percy has made you into a minor camp celebrity
except for during capture the flag
when you guys are on opposite teams? GOOD LUCK
you’re always on defense because you have a little bit of foresight
you can’t see that far into the future, but you have a sort of spidey sense
your sunny sense
so you’re always left around the flag for good measure
no matter what, percy has never been able to capture the flag when you’re on guard
“percy coming in at 3 o’clock” “what?” “bro just trust me”
they shot and pinned percy to a tree
sunny is never wrong
you have a tally going for how many times you’ve shot at percy
it’s a lot
games aside, you’re just happy to be back at camp
just peace and quiet
until chiron called you to his office
“i fear your father is in a bit of distress”
‘when is he not’ you thought to yourself
“his bow has mysteriously gone missing”
ah, that explains it
long story short, you’re going on a wild goose chase
a wild bow chase if you will
it was last seen in brooklyn, and your father wants you to find it
bye bye peaceful summer
either way, you’re leaving the next day
you’ve only been at camp for like a week
quests were never your forte
people usually ask you to go because of your foresight
you mostly say no, because of personal reasons
things like medication, sensory issues, etc
but it seems like your dad had other plans
percy was waiting for you outside the big house
“what’s up?”
he was worried
you hate it when he worries
“i’m going on a quest for my dad” “when do you leave?” “tomorrow.”
then it was silent, and the two of you stood on the porch to the big house
“who are you taking” that was the question you dreaded
“i’m going alone”
percy then followed you as you walked back towards your cabin
the two of you sat on the floor of your cabin getting a basic pack together
first aid, ambrosia and nectar, snacks etc
your bow turned into a little charm on your bracelet for easy transport
sometimes your dad was useful
only sometimes though
carrying arrows around would be a problem though
hopefully you don’t get arrested
the afternoon continued as normal
dinner was great as always, and the campfire was bittersweet
percy always had his hand in yours
poor boy is worried
then the morning came
you were making your rounds, saying goodbyes and giving hugs and that’s when you realized
percy hadn’t come to say goodbye
your heart ached a little, because you needed a little boost from your boyfriend
so you got in the van
putting your bag and quiver on the ground
“ow”
car floors do not talk
and if they did, they definitely did not sound like percy jackson
you looked down, and sure enough your boyfriend was there in the signature orange chb tee and a goofy smile on his face
“so i know you said-“
he was immediately shut up by your lips on his
“you’re an idiot”
“i’m your idiot”
you pretended to be mad
but you were actually really happy he was with you
because you were extremely anxious
percy doesn’t force you to talk
you both just hold each other until you’re comfy
sooner or later you were in brooklyn
the last place the bow was seen
that was helpful!
except you didn’t even know where to start
because brooklyn is very big
make it worse? you don’t know what the bow looked like
you could really use a little hint from the guy right now
how do you even find a lost bow
is there like a lost and found for greek artifacts
if yes, was it in brooklyn
if no, it was a brilliant business idea
you were so nervous you didn’t even notice your speed walking
by the time percy turned to talk to you, you had already walked a good distance away from him
(you made sure to apologize after he caught up)
your boyfriend understands the stress that comes with quests
especially ones surrounding retrieving an item
so he holds your hand and helps you stay calm on your little search and rescue mission
with little to no progress, your first day ended quite peacefully
now you were just broke teens wandering the streets looking for shelter
“we could just sneak into someone’s house” “we are not breaking and entering percy”
hotels in brooklyn were expensive
at least more than the pocket money your mom gave you
lowkey you just wanted to go home to your comfy sheets and cuddle with percy
damn the gods and their carelessness
“psst!! you there!!”
you turned to see some guy wearing sunglasses at a cafe table
he looked oddly familiar
mostly because you see the same face every time you walk into your cabin back at camp
“oh, dad” “sunny wait- that’s HIM?”
percy seemed to be the only one out of the loop
you found it kinda funny
like you see apollo in your dreams a lot
your own lil gossip sesh in your head
sunny fave kid (not that you’d ever tell your siblings)
obvi you sit next to him and start chatting
percy was there like “🧍🏼♂️”
“so then i assume this is the boyfriend”
you nodded and apollo did a once over
“ig love really is blind…”
cue confused noises from percy
papa apollo just wants the best for you
and he did not think the son of poseidon was the one
“i thought we had a quest to do”
another side eye from apollo
“who is WE?”
let’s cut to the chase
“i last remember having it somewhere in a park, now i find it”
clearly the forgetfulness was genetic
“okay but how do we find it” “you should be able to feel it”
so now you were going off of vibes
like find my iphone for your dad
why couldn’t he do it? gods know
he has a chariot to drive for gods sake
knowing that you were a human bow tracker, you and percy left to continue your search
your dad gave you some money (dollars and drachmas) as an apology for making you find his bow
he gave percy a side eye over the rim of his sunglasses before disappearing
with a newfound determination (and milkshakes), you took the quest head on
you two found yourselves in an overgrown park secluded from the rest of the city
the foliage was so overgrown percy had to chop his way through it
the lamps didn’t work so you two were feeling around for a while
it was a struggle to get there, but it was worth it
because apollo was right
you felt the energy of his bow
“sunny you’re glowing” “percy now is not the time for flirting” “no- you’re glowing!”
you looked down and he was right
you were glowing just the faintest bit
it’s like a game of hot and cold
you were just walking around and comparing the strength of the energy you felt to the brightness of your glow
you almost jumped when you weeded through a bush and saw the bow almost immediately
you went to grab it, but something felt wrong
this quest was a bit too peaceful
“is everything okay? let’s just grab it and find your dad-“
percy was cut off by you tackling him to the ground
he was confused, but then he saw it
the minotaur standing a few feet from the bow
percy barely noticed
but sunny sense is never wrong
this was not percy’s first rodeo
but it was basically yours
you were never on quests, so random monster encounters were new to you
he didn’t miss the way your shoulders quivered slightly
percy just wanted you to make it out okay
he would make sure of it
so you got off of him and pulled out your bow
he uncapped riptide and you two were ready to go
“i’ll distract it, you go in for the bow” you suggested
“no let me distract it, you’re faster than me” he retorted
it went back and forth like that even when the minotaur noticed you
you heard a menacing growl and immediately ceased your argument
like clockwork you guys bolted in opposite directions, and to your relief, mr minotaur chose to follow percy
meaning you were on bow rescue duty
so you had to be sneaky
but it’s hard to be sneaky when you’re glowing like a dollar store disco ball
you would move an inch before the minotaur would turn a little bit
percy would then stab at it as a distraction
this high stakes red light green light went on for a bit
until you FINALLY got your hands on apollo’s bow
and just on time it seems, because your foresight was tingling
you turned around and placed an arrow onto the bowstring, pulling back
“hey! oversized cow!”
the minotaur was seconds away from disarming percy
it turned to face you, and all the confidence you once felt drained from your body
your face paled and the bow almost fell from your hands
without warning, the minotaur dashed at you
you braced for impact, the last thing you heard being percy’s worried exclamations
but the impact never came
you opened your eyes and saw a geometric dome of light surrounding you
this was not on your bucket list
the minotaur wobbled around, clearly dazed
percy once again, stood confused
you shrugged, mirroring his expression
pulling back, you shot the arrow straight into its forehead
you picked up the horn that remained after the corpse withered to dust
“now we match”
however percy did not match your excitement
“how did you do that”
your hands still had a residual glow from the energy
honestly you were too tired to care
you wanted to say something, but your vision turned black before you could even mutter a sentence
the last thing you heard was a panicked percy yelling your name
then it was black
no visions, no visits from your dad, just pure darkness and silence
it felt somewhat peaceful
you liked it
until a bright light started splitting the inky abyss
and your head started pounding like crazy
sitting up and looking around, you realized you were back in the infirmary
and when attempting to move your hand, you were only met with a vice grip
in your lap, slept a messy mop of dark brown hair
said mop began to wake up when you yanked his arm
at first he was annoyed
then he realized
and squeezed the living daylights out of you
and you both sat there for what felt like hours, but was really only minutes
until will solace came in and kicked percy out so he could make sure you were okay
you got away with a few scratches, but when you passed out apparently you hurt your shoulder too
meaning you were off the shooting range for a little while
you almost cried
bandaged and sore to the bone, you walked out of the infirmary
“sunny!”
you turned your head before being tackled into another bear hugging
“ow ow ow percy my shoulder my shoULDER”
he apologized and opted to hold your hand instead
you asked him what happened when you passed out
percy told will, and apparently being around so much solar energy from the bow awakened some kind of heliokinesis
“it’s kinda useless if you pass out every time you use it”
he got a punch on the shoulder for that one
“and the bow?” “oh your dad came and took it a little while after you passed out, he gave you a ride home”
you paused
wait a second
“only me?”
“i got a taxi”
you almost died of laughter
of course you apologized for your dad and gave percy the biggest kiss
he begrudgingly accepted as long as you two go questing together more
after that? you think you can handle a few more quests
“next we go to tartarus” “okay that’s enough out of you”
<3

OP Parents being stopped by their smol kid from leaving to work at the door
They cannot leave home without defeating the child in a battle! One last play fight before OP parent goes bye-bye for days, weeks, or even months.
OP parents wins, but at a tragic cost. . . A good kick to the shin cuz kids are rough and play dirty! Honorably or not, when in doubt, the point is to win the battle at all costs! It failed, but its not always the size of the dog XD
Kizaru✨
He wasn’t really the type to play fight with his kid but he wouldn’t want to upset them so he’d pretend that he lost and would dramatically fall to the floor, clutching his heart before pretending to die until his child cuddles up to him and giggles. He’d promise to get home before they fall asleep and giving them some kisses before heading off to work.
Akainu🌋
All this cuteness makes the Fleet Admiral blush and decide to arm wrestle his kid to see who would win. Of course, he would let his kid win and then kisses them goodbye so he could head off to work. He wished he could stay longer but he had an important job to do.
Ryokugyu 🌱
There’s no way in hell Ryokugyu is gonna lose even if he’s the dad and the adult…he’s gonna make sure he always wins…at play fighting…at rock paper scissors…eating contests (he’d break his fast for this). “Haha, bye little loser…I’m going to work”, he’d say before getting kicked in the shin, “you little shithead!?”, he growl before having the kid tied up by a over grown plant and would leave them like that for his S/O to discover.
Fujitora 🐅
He would be amused that his child would propose such a thing but agreed, he of course would let his little one win in a soba eating contest just so that he could head off to work. He knew they were so little to understand his job but he would try to compromise with his child.
Sir Crocodile 🐊
He would be annoyed that his child wants to do this when he has a meeting to attend for a deal at his casino. “Fine, let’s play paper, rock, scissors”, he’d suggest which his child beamed it. “Paper, scissors…hook! I win!”, he’d say using his hook as part of the game before he’d laugh and use his devil fruit powers to move immediately out of the room even if his kid was angry about the whole thing.
Doflamingo Donquixote 🦩
He would smile at his child’s proposal…since when did they become such a smart ass. He’d agree to playful fight with his kid before just deciding he’d take his child with him to the meeting, he knew he’d be there to protect them no matter what and he’d get to spend time with them too.
Benn Beckman 🔫
He sighed softly but nodded, “fine, just one time and I got to head off, sweet one”, he’d say before wrestling with his kid just enough to let them pin him down before he’d dust himself off, “alright, I’ll see in a little bit…be good to your mom”, he’d said before rushing off.
Katakuri Charlotte 🍡
He would smile weakly at his kid, “fine, a donut eating competition then…”, he’d say before bringing in some donuts and milk, they’d be regular donuts since his kid was small. He’d pretend like he couldn’t eat another bite but he just wanted his child to win. Once he announced his defeat, he’d kiss his child goodbye and head off to his mission.
Killer🔪
He would rub the back of his neck as he smiled weakly, “fine, arm wrestling it is and if you win…I’ll bring you something cool”, he said before taking a seat. After a dramatic struggle, he’d lose to his child and promise to bring them a reward from his adventures before heading off.
Kaido🐉
He would laugh at the proposal that his child brought up! The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree after all. He would playfully fight with his child and wrestle them before winning of course…he was not gonna lose to anyone even his little baby. He’d take the angry outbursts from his kid before laughing his way to his next venture.
King👑
He was getting late for a meeting but he wanted to make his little baby happy too. So he decided to have a flying contest, first one to reach the other side of the forest wins. He would hold himself back so he could watch his child fly, he was so proud of his little one. Once he was defeated by his kid, he decided to take them to his meeting as a treat and even let them play with Queen who seemingly was King’s child’s favorite person.
Queen👑
He didn’t care about being late for his mission but he proposed they had a red bean soup eating contest. The problem was…they both loved red bean soup so this could be a true battle worth fighting! Queen would tap out when his ship was about to leave without it but not without having a few laughs with his kid.
Izou🔫🔫
He would nod but decided they could have a more civilized contest like a kanji writing contest, he knew his kid was practicing quite a bit and just used this opportunity to watch his kid do it. He would declare his child the winner and take the painting to Whitebeard to boast about his child being so skillful at such a young age.
Dragon D Monkey🐉🐒
He would be thoroughly amused with his child’s proposal and would go all out to wrestle his child. He tried his best not to win as he wanted his child to be happy before he headed off to a mission. He made them promise to get stronger while he was away and he’d get them something special in return.

LONDON ADVENTURE
Joseph Quinn & female y/n
Summary: Eating with Joseph Quinn at Covent Garden! (Slow burn)
Warnings: 18+ (soon), but fluffy, rpf…
Part 3
It was a relaxing evening at Covent Garden. Joe and you ordered vegan Burrito Wraps at Seven Dials Market and took a seat downstairs in the seating area. It was really crowded, but you got a nice place in one of the corners. You both couldn´t stop talking about anything possible. You told Joseph about your job and what it was like to work in a kindergarten as an early child educator in London. He seemed to be really interested in your work with children, he would probably be a good dad. Joe just turned 30 years old about 4 months ago, maybe he already considered to be a dad very soon. The thought made you hesitate again for a second. You weren´t ready for something like that, you didn´t even had sex before. Another thought that made you shakingly nervous. “Sounds amazing, love. I guess working with kids can bring a lot of laughter into your life.” “Yes, that’s for sure.”, you were enjoying your chat. “Do you like your job? Acting, is it something you always wanted to do?” “Oh, it was the only thing I was good at.”, he jokingly answered. “I went to LAMDA for my education, it´s a…” “I heard about it, Benedict Cumberbatch went there too. “He observed you obviously surprised. “Yeah, I am a huge fan of him.” Joe chuckled: “He´s a nice guy, I can totally understand… What else are you doing?” You really had to think hard for that question to get answered: “Well, here in London I love to just explore the city. I love to travel in general.” “Where do you want to travel?”, it felt like he inspected your face really closely. “New York City.” “Really?” “Yes, I´m a city traveller, I grew up on the countryside but never felt really comfortable there. I love to spent my time in big cities.” “I´m travelling there next week.” “You need to tell me everything when you come back!” Joe smirked and his eyes sparkled: “That means you want to meet me again?” “Of course.”, you said softly and you felt the need to take his hand. So you did. Your burrito wraps were already eaten 2 hours ago, and the market had become pretty empty. Both of your arms kind of rested on dirty old food waste, but that didn´t matter at all. You looked down at your hands and noticed Joe´s watch on his wrist. It was late. “I´m so sorry, but I think we have to leave now. I have to get up early tomorrow. I need to prepare a lot of stuff for my week off next week.” “That´s okay darling, still makes me sad though.”, he frowned his forehead in kind of a funny way and his face shifted into a cute smirk again. “Let´s go love.” He grabbed your hand and you went outside, it was a warm evening. “Which underground do you have to take?”, he asked. “Northern.” “Me, too.”
You started your walk back to Leicester Square station.” When you arrived, you did not have any idea how to say goodbye to him. Before you could even decide, Joe went in for a tight hug. It felt really overwhelming but soft and gentle at the same time. Something you never wanted to miss again in your life. Once he let go of the hug, you felt like a big hole in your chest. “You want to meet again tomorrow?” “Yes, Joseph. I´d love to.” “Same time, same place?” “Yes.”, you widely smiled. “Bye Joe.” “Bye, y/n.” Your paths separated, you had to go to the platform connecting you to Edware, he left for Morden. There was a last intense stare into each other’s eyes, but you could not fight the fear of being rejected, so you did not kiss him. And then, he walked around the corner and you had to wait about twenty hours till you would see him again. The digital display showed that you had to wait 7 minutes for the next train to arrive. Suddenly you felt a hand on your shoulder, just like at the beginning of your evening. You turned around and Joe had already smashed his lips against yours. It was passionate, soft and way to short. Joe left, you were too stunned to react.
To be continued…
Let me know what you think!! I have 13 parts ready to be posted!Just enjoy writing to much, but couldn’t post for a long time!

Murder Drones - Tales from CopperVile Chapter 1 - Uzi Doorman - Supernatural Investigator
The first Chapter of Tales from CopperVile is now Here for your reading enjoyment here and on my Ao3 page.
Uzi Pov
Today was the day she was going to do it. Today was the day that she Uzi doorman was going to prove that the supernatural does exist after all. Ever since she was a kid Uzi was in the words of her Father obsessed with the supernatural. He always seemed to blame it not on her but more on her mom Nori for allowing this to happen and not being into something normal like doors. But after an incident when she was in kindergarten with him forgetting to pick her up from school because of work she had a distan for those dumb doors.
So now today October 3rd was going to be the day where she exposes the supernatural For being real. She has been suspecting that the empty house across the street is home to some activity as the lights seem to always turn on during The night. So tonight she was going to go over to that house and see what she was truly dealing with.
But First she had to get through another boring school day. So Uzi got dressed In her typical outfit of her black jacket and boots and purple shirt underneath it. Then she began to head downstairs and off to her living room to see her father there reading the newspaper until noticing her coming down the stairs.
“Hey. There’s my Second favorite woman in the house.” Khan says happily.
“Morning Dad.” She saids to him while completing heading down the stairs to the living room.
“So What are you going to be doing today, daughter of mine.” Khan asks her with interest.
“Today is the day I’m going to prove the supernatural exists .” She tells him.
“Oh. that old phase you used to have.” Khan then says to her.
“It’s not a phase Dad. It’s my goal in life to prove that the supernatural does exist somewhere. This town is not normal.”
“Sweetie. I have been in this town for over 40 years and nothing strange has happened here.”
“Mom believes in this thought process that this town is not right.” Uzi says while putting on her traditional Jacket from the hanger.
“I blame her sister for believing all that Nonsense.” Khan then saids in annoyance.
Khan and Nori’s sister Yeva never seemed to get along as many times Nori tried to do it over the years. He thinks that she is almost as much of a believer in the supernatural as Her and Nori are much to his dismay sometimes.
“Uzi? Are you sure you can’t just have a normal hobby like other teenagers?” Khan then asks Her with slight concern.
“Being normal is being lame. I don't want to be lame dad.” Uzi explains
“Well. I can’t stop you. What I have learned from your mother is that you and her are stubborn when it comes to a mission” He says to Her while returning to look at his newspaper.
“Now in case this whole mission falls apart you can always join me in the hardware store and work on doors.”
“I'd rather work in the grocery store with Thad before that happens.” She tells him honestly.” She tells him while getting her backpack on.
“Come on? One time for your old man?” He says to her.
“I will think about it. But that doesn’t mean it’s going to happen.” She tells him.
“Bye dad. Tell mom I love her.” She says to him while leaving the house.
“See ya my little butterfly.” He then said to her in a loving manner.
“Don’t call me that.” Uzi muttered while heading out the door.
And so Uzi began her traditional walk to school that she always did due to Mom always working early in the office and Dad working in his hardware store always. So it was just her,The autumn wind and the barely open sun like always. Of course she always enjoyed the walk as it was nice and cool to have. The only time that her morning walks were ever boring was when…
“Well look who it is.”
Of course. Lizzy Sparker. Coppervile’s Number One Prep Girl and Number One skeptic to the Supernatural. No matter how much evidence is presented to her she still doesn't believe it. The only thing she cares about is fashion,Being popular and her status.
It was too early for her to deal with her preppy attitude so she decided to just keep walking and ignore her which was hopefully easier said than done as she was in her car. But that Plan went out of the window quickly though as Lizzy rolled down her window and looked at her from the driver's seat. Well. Might as well get it over with.
“All right. What do you want, Sparker?” Uzi asks her bitterly.
“Just wondering if you were going to embarrass yourself today with your whole supernatural stick.” She saids to her while continuing to drive slowly.
“Why? Do I bore You?” Uzi snarks back while continuing to walk.
“Yeah. And I don’t want you ruining my future with your whole “Vampires are real” Thing.” Lizzy tells her in a mocking tone.
“Why does myself matter to you?” Uzi then asks Lizzy.
“Because in my future if I have an important interview and they ask me about my past I’m not going to ask them about my school life because that means acknowledging you.”
“Oh no. I’m a threat to your career. I’m such a jerk compared to You.” Uzi says in a sarcastic tone.
“Why Am I bothering to still talk to you?” Lizzy then asks Her while beginning to roll up her Car’s window so she can begin to leave.
But before she could complete that task another voice then came up from behind and up to Uzi.
“What’s Shaking Z.”
It was Thad. Her best and basically only friend. He has known her for the longest and while doesn’t completely understand everything she’s talking about does believe her in the supernatural. She just wishes that he would sometimes stop trying to be a girl magnet in School.
“Hey Thad. It's going well.” Uzi says to him telling him Things are Good.
“Ugh. It's The Jock who thinks he's a hot shot.” Lizzy groans in annoyance at Thad's presence.
“Hey Liz.” Thad says to her while pointing at her in a cool manner.
“Yeah. Still not interested. I'm out of here.”
So Lizzy then finally Decided to drive off in her car leaving Uzi and Thad there on the sidewalk until they returned to continue walking to School.
“She's not going to be into you.. or any girl in School.” Uzi honesty tells him.
“I don't get it. I tried everything but nothing seems to get the ladies. I even put on deodorant.” Thad says in annoyance.
“Ew. Did not need to know that.” Uzi says in Disgust.
“Sorry. But what am I supposed to do?” Thad apologizes and wonders what he is supposed to do.
“I'm sure you will find someone who is interested in you just like how I will prove the supernatural Exists.” She reassures him.
“Will you remember me when you're famous after Discovering the supernatural?”
“Of Course. You're my best friend. Unless Im Turned into a complete monster and I have basic understanding of speech.” Uzi tells him while then adding in a Creepy fact.
“That can happen?” Thad asks her in slight surprise.
“If I'm not careful. Which won't happen. Tonight I'm going over to the first location that I suspect there is supernatural activity across the street in that old house.”
“You mean the house that no one has lived in for decades?” Thad says wanting clarification That they are talking about the same one.
“Yep. That one. Tonight I'm going over there and see what's going on.”
“Is it legal to go over to an abandoned house without a warrant?”
“It's not for Sale.” Uzi remarks to him.
“Fair point.”
“After tonight Thad this school Is going to see me under a new light. Not as the Weirdo Goth but as an discover of the Unknown.” She proudly declares to him.
But then her whole Idea and proposition was taken over by The School Bell outside ringing To her annoyance.
“After I go through School.” She then saids to Thad in a bored tone.

Kennedy rolled over, leaning over Tyler, grabbing his phone from his nightstand.
"Hello?" He rubbed sleep from his eyes.
"Ken honey. I'm getting my stuff. I have to come by and pick it up. I have to get ready for my family's dinner. I'm sorry it's early she called me and reminded me because I forgot."
"Pick up your stuff?" He paused, being pulled back down by Tyler wrapping his arms around him. "You know what, tell me later. Love ya bye." He hung up the phone quickly.
"I guess he's busy..." You smile over at Jake, raising your brows.
Jake smirked back. "Yeah, real busy..." He chuckled.
You rolled your eyes playfully. "I just have to pick up my car and drive it back, then I can unpack later. Are you coming with me to my family's dinner?"
"Yeah, I'll go with you." He grabbed your hand.
You wrapped your fingers with his. This new beginning felt nice and comfortable.
You drove your car back to Jake's house and rushed inside to get dressed. You wore something casual meant for a ranch.
You stood in the hallway watching Jake get dressed. He had his jeans on, a pair of boots, he was slipping his shirt on. You watched his muscles glisten with each move. He fixed his hair in the mirror. "You ready to go, darling?"
Your heart swelled as he stepped out of the room, taking your waist in his arm. "Um... y-yeah." You were lost in his eyes, unable to speak.
He leaned down, stealing a kiss from your lips. He walked away, leaving your body in a trance. You stood stunned until finally collecting yourself enough to walk.
Your family all stood around the same as always they helped around the kitchen where needed. Jake opened your side door. He helped you out of his truck.
The front door opened. "Honey, you're right on time. Oh..." she paused, seeing a truck replacing your normal car. "You're ophelia's boy."
"Yes ma'am." He nodded his head. "Jake seresin." He held out his hand, shaking your mom's hand.
"It's nice to finally meet you. Your mama's told me a lot." She smiled, letting you both in.
"All good, I hope." He chuckles, knowing the stories his mother could tell.
"Great things." She walked past the pair, getting to the kitchen to finish stirring the pot on the stove.
You both follow your mom, and you both step in helping out. Jake just washing a single dish would be more than James ever did, yet here he was right next to your mom cutting all the vegetables.
Dinner is put in the oven. Your family raves about the new baby coming from your sister in law, Jake's many accomplishments, and your dad giving him a hard time, but of course accepting him due to him already sky rocketing past how James ever treated you or them for that matter.
Everyone eats dinner, and Jake helps you with the dishes for clean up.
"You did good on this one..." Your mother whispers in your ear as she watches Jake play chess with your father after everyone had left.
"I think so, too." Her arms wrapped around you, kissing her little girl that will never truly be an adult in her eyes, but she has to accept it as you walk out the door with the new man in your life.
"Bye honey. Be good, you two! It was nice to meet you, jake." The doors closed, sending you on your way back to your new home. Your phone started ringing while the truck passed by the trees.
"Marilyn... babe... so we are double dating again tonight, so if there's nothing between you and Jake I need you to prete..." Kennedy starts saying before you interrupt.
"There is..." You save him the breath and words.
"Babe, tell me all the details later. We are going out tonight! You remember what I've taught you. No clashing patterns, colors that work together..." He continued rambling.
"Make sure I'm sucked, tucked, and plucked. I've got it, ken." You reassure him.
"My baby is all grown up." He fake cries. "We are meeting at Ultra again. We are going on a double date. I can't believe it!" He says with happiness oozing from the words.
"I'll see you in a few hours." You pause briefly. "Im proud of you, Ken, honey." Your voice trembling with happy tears threatening to spill, knowing he is finally opening up to someone as a partner.
"Bitch I'm hanging up this phone don't you make me cry. I love you." He started actually tearing up.
"I love you more." You click off the call. Your attention turns to Jake.
"So I take that it's going well with Ken and Tyler?" He spoke up, grabbing your leg softly with one hand on the wheel.
"Yes... thank you, Jake. We're all going on a double date tonight." You wiped away a single tear, pulling yourself together quickly.
"Good when we get home. I'm gonna go outside and feed the animals real quick, then we can get ready." It was so strange but comforting to hear him call a shared place with you home.
You get home. Jake heads towards the back door, waving at you before going out towards the barn. You head up to Jake's room and lay on the bed, pulling out your book.
'His eyes as certain as the sun. Completely sure that his world was nothing but her. She kissed his lips, pulling him into a deep kiss. This man was wholeheartedly hers. He wanted nothing more in his life. His arms wrapped around her waist, and every emotion fell under love. His mind pulled in no other direction but her. Their first kiss was so powerful that it could strike an ocean into a drought. Their bond became so connected as they reached new heights. His hands...' You stopped reading as Jake walked in.
He kicked his clothes off, laying next to you, holding you close to him. The book closed and fell long forgotten on the floor as his lips met yours. You no longer needed the men in the books to keep you safe and loved. You found your true love right in your arms. He was every woman's dream, but only you were his, and there the book laid holding all the fears and sadness from your past in the pages while it was your only safety for all those years. Many nights passed with the book laying under the bed, as your life kept getting more interlaced with Jake Seresin's as he settled down with his newfound family.
Many years past, the book was still in place long forgotten under the bed. The ceiling above held it away as You, Jake, Uncles Ken, and Tyler all gathered around watching your two children play in the living room below your bedroom.
A/N: just a song stuck in my head after writing this.

Fluff, Nick/Nate thinking they are a bad father.
Honey
Nate Diaz x Reader (N31 R31)
Fluff with sadness I won't say angst
"Dad?" Abel said from the dining table while his dad went around the kitchen getting food ready for his gym "yeah?" He asked the 6 year old "are you gonna come to classroom night?" Nate looked at me, I was holding a 2 year old Nova "remember I told you the other day, he shows us his new classroom at 3:30" he nodded "yeah I'll be there" "story?" Nova asked "and I'll be back for your story love" he smiled and kissed her head "bye mamas" he kissed me "bye baby" I smiled "you're leaving already?" Abel asked "yeah buddy, I'll see you after school," he kissed his head "love you guys!" He yelled opening the front door "Love you!".
"bubba?" I said as I drove him to school "yes?" Abel replied "I don't want you to get your hopes up about dad coming-" "I know he has a fight soon" "no matter what know he's trying" "I do!" "K you want me to walk you in?" "No mom I'm too old for that" he said getting out "oh okay love you" "love you!" I watch him run into school "alright Nova you want to go shopping?" I said looking at her smiling through the mirror she nodded "can I have a cakepop?" I nodded .
We went shopping for a bit then hung out at home for a while till I made Abel food to take to him. "Mommy!" I heard Nova yell as she ran into the kitchen "can I change my shirt? I want to wear one of dads shirts" she held up a represent shirt "yeah baby of course" "okay!" She smiled going to change.
Y: heading to his school now..lmk if you can't make it 🖤
Abel ran up and hugged me "hi bubba" I smiled and hugged him back "come on I'll show you where we can eat" he said grabbing my hand. "Where's your dad?" The boy across from us asked "he's training!" Abel said then took a bite "training?" "Yeah! My dad's a UFC fighter he has a fight with this guy named Conner soon!" He smiled "really?!" "Yeah my uncles a fighter too!" I smiled as Abel went on about his dad.
We left at about 6 still nothing from Nate. When we got home the kids showered "is daddy gonna read me a story?" Nova asked while I dressed her "not tonight he's working pretty late...but we can watch a movie" "okay!" She smiled, we started a movie on the couch, them both curled into me.
Mr. Diaz 🖤: shit baby I'm sorry I forgot to check the time after I started sparring. Is Abel upset? 8:30
Y: it's okay love, Abel isn't upset he understands 🖤
Mr. Diaz 🖤: okay omw home rn
Y:k see you soon
I looked down and both of them were asleep, I stood and picked Nova up first laying her in her bed kissing her head. Then I picked up Abel he wrapped his arms tighter around and side, I laid him in bed " good night bubba " "night" I kissed his head before softly shutting the door, just as the front one opens.
"hey baby" I softly smiled and kissed him "hi" I took his gym bag from his hand "I'll heat up dinner for you" he nodded kissing my head "I'm gonna shower really quick" "okay Love" i pecked his lips. "Thank you" he said as I sat food in front of him. "how was your day?" I sat across from him, he shook his head "it wasn't very good" "you want to talk about it?" He shook his head "Honey," He pushed his plate aside leaning forward "what's wrong?" Reaching over putting my hand on his hand "I'm really bad at this" his voice broke "what?" I gave a confused look "at being a dad" he sighed putting his hand on his face "hey.." I went over to him taking his face off his face, he shrugged his shoulder and bit his lip "you're the best father I know... what are you talking about?" I rubbed his arm "I make them promise I can't keep , I'm always gone..I mean they have to feel away about it-" "they love you more than anything all Abel did was talk about how cool it was for his dad to be a fighter. Every minute you have you're with them, there's nothing Nova loves more than going to the gym with you" "I don't know" "I'm telling you," I smiled and kissed his head "you're an absolutely amazing husband". He laid on my chest as we went to bed "I love you Nathaniel" I kissed his head while I rubbed his shirtless back "I love you Y/n".
"Daddy?" We heard a half asleep Nora say "yeah?" Nate said and put his arms out for her "can I sleep in here?" I nodded and pulled her to his chest, her small fingers ran over the scars on his face "wov you" he smiled and pulled her in close "love you babygirl" he kissed her head.

Im writing this for me. I need to write to let out how I feel. And I’m just really sad. My dad has ALS, he probably won’t even be here next year. There’s nothing I can do. It has sucked the life out of every inch of me, I’m so depressed my soul aches. Right before my dad’s symptoms hit a downhill, I had started talking to a boy I was really excited about. Had a big crush on him and was so thrilled he liked me, too. We started dating, and the first thing I noticed is that he was bad at communication. Arguing with him was tedious, almost impossible because he would get really mad and shut down. Never aggressive like my last boyfriend, but just so stubborn and defensive and rude. On my hardest days, he would take it very personally when I wasn’t super talkative or upbeat. My dad fell at the bowling alley one night and I was absolutely devastated. It’s traumatic to watch, that’s the only way to describe it. My boyfriend didn’t say a word to me, went home and still didn’t say a word to me. When I got upset about it he first said he didn’t want to intrude on my family, and then a little later into the argument said I wasn’t talking to him so what did I care. A couple weeks ago I saw on my dads online health account that it predicted 9 month survival at 80-90%. 9 months. 9 months with my dad. I can feel my fucking heart throb in my chest typing this right now. It’s the kind of fucking sobbing that rocks my whole body. So needless to say, I was pretty quiet that day. I’m having a hard time processing it. My boyfriend got upset with me because I was “ignoring him” “didn’t talk to him all day” which I had been, I was just being quiet, and I even explained I was having a hard day. I mean he should know. He would stay over every weekend. He saw my dad. He could hear how hard it is for my dad to talk. After every fight, he would tell me he was sorry he always takes it to 100, and that he was happy I put up with him and try to work things out and don’t give up. This past week he made a comment that made me uncomfortable. I had pointed it out, he got really defensive. Told me I assume whatever I want, I read things wrong, take it how I want to no matter “what he says” etc. he says those things every fight to me. I tell him okay, we’re arguing, why don’t we talk later. I am not perfect, in the past I would tell him to just leave my house and I was done talking- so I wanted to work on this. I told him exactly “we are just arguing and it’s not productive. Why don’t we talk after you get out of work, okay? Later, just not right now”. He said “bye, dead serious”. I asked what he meant, but he never texted back after work. I noticed he removed our Facebook relationship status. I was very upset and texted him saying I was done with the bullshit. For the next two days, it felt insane because the fight had branched so much I felt weird even trying to say why I was originally upset. Everything I said he told me I’m going to think whatever I want anyway. I wake up at 6:30 am to go to my dads ALS appointment on Wednesday. doctor tells us my dads breathing intake is at 48%. Not good, obviously. My boyfriend? Texts me a paragraph of rude things, including that I’m controlling because I wanted him to “say sorry in a specific way”. He was referring to me saying, all I was trying to do was say “hey I know you didn’t mean this in a bad way and didn’t know. But this made me uncomfortable” and all I expected was a “hey I’m sorry I didn’t mean it like that” if that’s what he meant. Instead he told me I read it wrong. That I take things the wrong way and think so low of him. Bad day. I have a lot of those lately.
Yesterday morning I woke up to him really angry that I removed him from Snapchat and Facebook- but he had ??? Removed our status? He kept saying rude shit and not trying to actually talk with me. He said I must be ready to move on nice and quick if I removed him so fast. I pointed out he removed our status and he said “I just did that to make you mad”. Lol. After more hours of arguing- literally. I finally said “you’d think if you wanted to fix this like you say you do you’d call me or actually answer when I call you instead of texting. We can apologize and move on” he tells me he’s “good on all that. You said what you wanted to say and I’m not cool with it. You never wanted to be with me anyway” which the last part he would always say to me in fights and I do not know why. But yeah anyway I said okay whatever have a good one. We haven’t talked since then. Maybe he met some girl and that’s why he doesn’t care? Maybe his ego and immaturity just really will never let him see how fucking horrid he was treating me. Idk. But it hurts.
Out of all the things, I am just disappointed. I’m disappointed in how many failed relationships. I’m tired of putting myself out there for people, constantly trying to mold into a better person just people to not do the same for me. I’m tired of selfishness. I’m tired of life, honestly. I don’t want my dad to die. He won’t be at my wedding if I have one. He won’t meet kids if I have any. He won’t be here, waiting for a big hug. He can’t make witty jokes. He won’t be able to bowl with my brother, mom, and I. He won’t be here to ask me for double cheeseburgers. He won’t be here to give me a big hug and tell me he loves me. My heart is so broken. I feel so so so broken.
And the boyfriend who I was so excited for, couldn’t take two seconds to realize how much I was going through, and try to be easy with me. To try and improve how he acted. To try and care about me like he so claimed. Or maybe to just not do things purposely to make me angry, knowing how much I rightfully am angry about already.
Hug your loved ones. And if you think your life is fucking miserable, for me try and take a breath, and count the things you are happy for. I used to think life was miserable, now my favorite person on this planet is sick with someone that kills you quickly, traumatically, and with no remorse. And god, is that a pain I have never felt so deeply, and widespread.

I really don't appreciate people who say you don't try hard enough to recover, I really look up to you as a person every time you leave a good bye here, I hope that you will not really go away, I keep up with you for a long long time, and every time you decide to stay, I get insanely happy.
I am sorry about your family, I just know about what you say to us in your vent posts, I would really like to believe they did what they did, because even before you were in the picture, they were already broken.
Not every one is cut out to parent, and the kids always pay the price, my dad left the moment he thought he deserved better, and never looked back, it hurts but it's not my fault, just like it's not yours.
We are not responsible for the pain and misery of people who were there way before us.
Thanks for being here, through better or worse, I hope you have a wonderful life ahead of you.
thank you. and yeah it's really hard to separate my self worth from my parents approval since that's what they (and society, culture has embedded within me) and it's just. it hurts a lot.
I've been working on accepting that my mom just didn't have the means to be a mother despite what my relatives think (they blame ME for being a bad daughter hence why she got fed up and left) but I think the newest revelation about my dad, the parent that I highly looked up to commited suicide in the end- after years of blaming myself for not being able to save him, hurts even more.
He was a kind and loving person who taught me to be the kind of person you see now, so it just feel like an ultimate betrayal to me. I know even long before that he has a history with depression (I'm starting to think it runs in the family). It contradicts the picture I had of him in my head about witnessing his death was almost poetic, theatric... how I spent the whole day engulfed with dread and anxiety as he gave me the papers to claim insurance and even said "thank you" as his true last words before he died in his bed. Everyone in the family thought he was a saint bc he was granted a peaceful way to die. Everyone said "it's like he knew he was going to die that day and prepared himself for it, what a miracle of god!"
Turns out he was actively neglecting his medication for his chronic illness a few weeks and refused to do anything about it. He KNEW he was going to leave behind two daughters who were still in school and highly depended on him since our mom died a year before. I blamed myself for a decade bc I was a teen who didn't know what to do and how to help him. He gave up. My mom gave up. She sent me an "apology" letter in my 16th birthday card- that conveniently she died TWO DAYS after my birthday in a car accident with no other casualties.
In the end, both of them committed suicide. Leaving me to be taken in by my aunt and grandmother who sees me (verbally stated from time to time) that I'm a burden they did not want to deal with.
So yeah. I don't really know how I'm going to recover from something this level of fucked up. I thought I had it bad before but this is just disappointing. Like I thought I had, at least a parent who unconditionally loved me. I was content about his death knowing that he loved me.
Now I'm not sure what to think about it anymore. I'm angry, I'm more than pissed and I will never have the closure I want because they're both long dead.
This is part of my past that I have to accept no matter what.
